I ate a whole frozen package of brussell sprouts with my dinner last night, and the night before I ate a whole bag of baby carrots while watching TV. Those veggies are incredibly nutritious, but they do have calories. Is there a limit to how much we're allowed to volumize? How many extra calories of veggies am I allowed? 1,000 calories of broccoli still equals 1,000 calories - get what I'm saying?

I'm totally with you! I can easily eat an entire bag of brussel sprouts (and have).

I'm thinking it's okay though. One of the things I learned at Weight Watchers is that the fiber content enters into the mix, and veggies have tons of fiber.

It's a good question to post to the Dietitian though.

Free is free. Don't over think it. Do you really think you'll eat 1,000 calories of broccoli? I think your body would rebel in ways you wouldn't let it if you did!!

Use the freebies as much as you need to. Keep an eye out for your long-term lifestyle though. Do you actually see yourself eating massive quantities of veggies for years? Probably not. Don't worry about what you need to do for a little while during this weight loss phase.

LesterLou: I probably could go the rest of my life eating massive quantities of veggies. There's a big, beautiful SPAGHETTI SQUASH sitting on my kitchen table, and it's got my name written all over it... laugh.gif

I asked my JCC that exact same question because of the calories involved with the veggies. Her exact quote was "You can't eat to many veggies" and the other she tells me is "Those that eat the most veggies wins the war". So, volumize away...

Ink, I love Spaghetti Squash and I think it was Beluga or Sweet that taught me about putting SF Maple syrup on it with some cinnamon. YUMMMMMMMY!!!

Veggies do have calories, but not enough to put a large dent in your diet. I think as long as it takes the place of other things that aren't so healthy, keep loading up on the veggies. If you were to eat a whole bag of brussell sprouts and then still be hungry and go for some chips, then there is a problem. Good for you for making good choices!

I was so glad to see this post today. I to have been volumizing using all kinds of free veggies. And even though It was helping with hungar I haven't moved on the scale. I went this week not putting as many in my food and sure enough I finally moved a pound. Go figure....

My JCC said not to overdue. Learn when you are satisfied and stop eating. As mentioned above, there are still calories associated with the veggies. Eat and enjoy, but not to excess.

The veggies listed on the free foods have less calories then your body uses to digest them, that's why they won't hurt your weight loss. At least that's what I was told.
