Greetings, everyone. I joined Jenny in April, 2010 and have lost around 25 pounds, and am nearing my goal -- yea!! I'm only 5'1", so that is very good progress for me. Anyway, it seems that my hair is falling out a lot recently, and I wonder if others are experiencing this too. I have read that unbalanced crash diets can lead to this, but I am eating carefully and correctly on Jenny, so I don't think that's the reason. Does anyone know of a solution for this? Do I have to start shopping for Rogaine type hair products? I hope not -- I'm not a high maintenance person!

Also, I have short, chunky legs and tend to have cellulite thighs. My diet and exercise have really changed the appearance of my thighs, which is great, but the downside is that now I see crepey skin on the inside of the thighs. I'll take that if I have to, but I'm wondering if there is a solution for this. I'm 59 and I know skin at this age is not as resilient as it used to be.

I hope somebody can tell me that these issues will go away as time passes!

Thanks for reading this!

Congrats on the weight loss....thats awesome!!!

When I started jc my hair fell out too, but I have thyroid issues, and when ppl w/these issues lose weight it throws off the thyroid balance, which in turn hair loss is a side effect. I would say it could be ur meds.....if you are on any. Sometimes when we lose weight our meds have to be adjusted...so says my Dr.

As far as ur legs.....do you do toning exercises? Fortunately, I have muscular legs and I do alot of toning exercises to help maintain them while I lose. I would suggest doing side leg raises and squats to help tone them. Sorry I cant give you more advice.....I have read on here where the flabbiness and elasticity does get better over time and will start to decrease in a yr or so as our body adjust to its new size.

Primrose Oil softgels, which is rich in Omegas is great for this. But as with anything you start check w/ur dr, as some supplement tend to thin the blood.

Really? I did not know that! Thanks, Melissa! I'll check into it.

Judy, be sure you check with ur dr first before taking anything new, since you are diabetic and take meds.

Hi, Melissa and Judy - thanks for your input. I'll check with my counselor this weekend, as well. Good luck with your progress!

Hello, Ladies. I am 55 and hopefully towards the end of my 'change of life' - since it has been going on for a little over 10 years, now. Some hair loss might be just another menopausal gift - I lost about 1/2 of my hair when I gained all the weight (another menopausal gift). I was lucky in that I had a LOT of hair before I lost half of it.
I lost a lot of weight on JC a couple years ago, and am going back today for a re-commitment. I gained 15 pounds and need to get back on track. Not easy to exercise right now - with a broken ankle, but I am feeling pretty (physically) crummy with the extra weight gain.
Are any of you married? Do you cook for your husbands? That is my hardest part on JC. I have to cook dinner for my husband and son (a person with special needs that lives at home with us). I need some advice and suggestions. Got any?

Welcome back Joni!!! Kudos to you for catching the gain after just 15lbs, some wait until they are 50 and over before coming back. Also, try these link to a thread where we were all talking about cooking for our family.......great ideas!

I have been on Jenny for over a year, and I, too, noticed hair loss, nail weakening, and skin crepe after about half a year. I have lost a lot of weight, so I expected that "crepe" look and - yes - I am fifty six, so my skin is not as resilient as it used to be. A Biotin supplement is great for hair and nail support, and I have been using the Garnier Ultra Lift Pro deep wrinkle roller and gravity defying cream for my lovely turkey neck (well, it's better than the three chins I used to have!)
I have also been weight training and swimming, and I think that has helped a lot, too.
Moisturizing with a good all over body cream (I like Eucerin Calming Creme) after showering helps, too. Just think of what we have put our poor skin through...we need to be patient and let it catch up with our new bodies!
Stronger and lighter every day!
Elizabeth Leigh
