I shared with my coworkers today about being on JC, and they tore me to shreds! They said terrible things about the program, and then they all turned on me. "You just need to..." "If only you'd..." "Why can't you..."

Why are people so negative about JC? I heard about Kirstie Allie, "pre-packaged food," and 100 reasons why weight watchers is better. (Which it's not - I counted points like a pro for a month and lost zilch.)

Are the nay-sayers just jealous?

Oh I know EXACTLY what you mean. Their ignorance is from lack of information......they want to believe JC does not work b/c for one....they prolly cant afford it and would like to be on it themselves.....2. b/c they are negative and critical people. When I first started I didnt tell anyone due to this. I only told my CLOSE friends/family, then if anyone ask me out of sincerity and I trusted their motives I would divuldge more.

It comes down to what other people say really doesn't matter. Just seems there is so much negativity around lately in every part of life.

You made a great choice in the program, it definately works.

Those same people would be telling you if you bought a new car, why did you buy this one, why not that one. Some people just have to be as the saying goes... Debbie Downers (apologies to the Debbies out there).

Jealous, insecure whatever... it's a choice they are making to p** in someones cheerios... opps I meant frosted jenny oat cereal ::wink wink:::

You enjoy the fact you have prepackaged foods and a plan of action and they are wandering around trying to figure out what to make for dinner tonight... it's all about YOU right now and that is OK.

Best of luck with the program and have a fantastic weekend.

Dawn

People just want to express their opinions. JC is expensive, however it is up to the person that wants the program to do it or not. There are many other options out there, but I doubt that they took the time to really voice other options other than Weight Watchers. The structure of JC is top notch and I'll say that all day long. The portion control that one can learn from packaged foods is VERY important. It carries you through parties and dinners at the restaurant. So, maybe they're just hating. But if they really knew what they were talking about they wouldn't just grab for the word Weight Watchers.

I agree with Dawn, they are just Debbie Downers. Go ahead and tell them that you are getting a new BMW or something. They will tell you how bad it is.

Anway, Jenny Craig is awesome. It works!! I too have done WW and do love JC better. Everyone is different. I love the convenience of having everything that I need to eat right there. I look at the menu and voila, this is what I am eating today...

I say they are just jealous. You show them!!

The same thing happened to me! After I left my first Jenny meeting and paid for all my food (yesterday), I called my dad to tell him how excited I was, and he was so negative about it. He was like "Why are you spending half of your salary each week on this?" and "You could do it on your own, you don't need a program". I was like "Thanks dad..." I mean, considering I tried to do it myself and it didn't work, this wouldn't hurt.. might as well try, right? And once you lose the weight, the program ends, so I might not even need to do the full 10 weeks! People are so close-minded. :/ And my dad is great, but that was ridiculous.

First time I told my sister she was like "what is wrong with you? That program is all bunk and so expensive. Do you know you have to buy their food (uh-huh) dry.gif You need to go back to WW. It works for me!"

Well WW didn't work permanently for me.
And a little more than 3 months and 34 pounds later, she no longer thinks I made the wrong choice and is telling everyone how well I am doing on JC.

You know people all have opinions that will probably contradict what you believe, in all aspects not just weight loss. I never listen to anyone anyway, the only opinion that matters is mine smile.gif

Your statement: "the only opinion that matters is mine". Powerful statement, for sure. Everyone may think that their way is best---for everyone---but, since everyone is a different entity, what works for some, doesn't for others. Best to listen to your heart, your mind and your JCC! smile.gif Congratulations on doing so very well!!

I find JC to be a LOT more relaxing than WW ever was. I became a little neurotic about counting every point and then I got sick to death of counting points. unsure.gif Plus, I gained all the weight back and then some, as soon as I stopped counting points.

Also, on WW, you might not be eating a balanced diet, the way JC teaches you to do. There are some similarities, but I'd rather learn how to look at a plate of food and know I'm eating the right amount, than to have to memorize how many points something is. Maybe I'm just more visual than mathematical? laugh.gif

I am very selective about telling people I am on the JC program. I know weight loss is better obtained by sharing with others but that is what this forum is here for in my opinion. I can post to my hearts content and people here "get it". I am not in the mood to justify this program to others who will heap on criticism about the money, the packaged food, etc.

Maybe they are jealous of what they perceive as an *easy fix*. Yeah right. We all know not even JC is easy.

I'm very selective of who I tell as well. I just find people will tear down what they don't understand. I've done Weight Watchers and it worked for me for awhile but I got very bored and very neurotic about counting points as well.

Comments like those always motivate me to prove them wrong. I was skeptical of Jenny Craig before I finally made the call, I figured I would give it a try and I don't regret it at all. I think people just become jealous and don't want to be left behind?

I am so pleased to see these positive comments and support.

Everyone needs a different approach. It's unrealistic to think that one weight loss program will suit everyone. Weight Watchers made me feel obsessive rather than in control. However, I can see how it could definitely work (and has worked) for others. I certainly wouldn't tell someone who'd started Weight Watchers that Jenny Craig is the only way to go. Only the individual truly knows.

Initially, I felt guilty about spending the money on myself, but realized that in the long run, I would just be spending lots more money on health problems as I got older. I'd rather be pro-active!

For me, Jenny Craig has given me confidence and peace of mind that I'm making good decisions consistently. It's also helped me understand portion sizes in the real world, which I realize now was my downfall in past weight loss efforts. In a way, at the beginning, it allowed me to focus on my exercise plan, knowing that the food was "taken care of." For the first time, I was on track with BOTH food and exercise, which gave me great results and motivated me to continue.

Just felt compelled to share. smile.gif

I used to keep JC a secret. They see me walking every morning, guess they thought I was just exercising. One person told someone else I looked mean when I was taking my power walk. I bought waxed lips to wear while I pass her in the morning, at least she can't complain about that! She is a negative person and wants me to fail. She didn't know about JC until this week.
As the weight started coming off and it was definitely noticeable, I would tell choice people. When they ask if it is expensive I tell them it can be but so are the meds I would be on if I didn't lose weight! Diabetes, High Blood Pressure, just to name a few.
I am worth the money, period!

JC is so worth it because of all that you can learn. I am not only learning about food I am learning things about myself like I am a strong person, I am able to do things never thought I could do/be. The confidence level alone is a boost!

You be you! Don't worry about the fools out there, your results tell it all!

This post keeps coming up and up again. I already posted about the "downer" thinking of a lot of people.

Just thought about it again though and realized that I have never had anyone ever speak down about the program. I never hide that I'm on Jenny Craig. Didn't ten years ago and not now. We all have to eat every day, what you eat and what I eat what concern is it to anyone.

It just struck me after re-reading some posts, how sad it is that someone has to comment about a meal you are eating and a program you have chosen for yourself...... sheesh.... those nay-sayers really need to get a life or a hobby.

Good luck to all your Jenny Craig people out there... lift up your double chocolate cheesecakes and say.... IN YOUR FACE!!!

Enjoy your day

.... but I got very bored and very neurotic about counting points as well.

O goodie, I'm not the only one who would get obsessed about counting carbs, counting points, counting fat grams, counting calories.. or whatever... seems like I've been on every program around for a little while at least.

At least with this honest effort at JC this time around, I am really feeling more at peace with food and emotional triggers than I have in forever.... and then my best friend/Jenny Craig partner decided to have weight loss surgery so I am feeling a loss there of a solid support column... and I've worried about how best to support her when I perceive she has not properly prepared herself for the lifetime of drastic eating changes ahead of her...

but I've had to just give it up to God to watch over each of us as we travel our weight-loss journeys on separate paths.

Hi.. a great topic.

I am glad to say my FRIENDS are positive. They are seeing the new me ... the skinner me.. in time.

But I think people are people. They want to tell others what they should or should not do.

I posted this before and will do it again.

All diets like WW, Jenny and Nutrisystem are the same.

The MIND has to change for the BODY to change.

Yes i have my bad days.

My days where I do not select the right foods.

But I am trying to make better and better selections.

I like the person I am seeing in the mirror.

But I have found those who dont understand what we do when we PAY OUR OWN money on JC.

Dont talk to them about it.

Talk about other things.

YOU KEEP UP YOUR JOURNEY

they will will have to discover their own. smile.gif

The previous posts are dead on. Thankfully, I have a good support system in place. However, when people comment that the cost of JC or eating healthy in general is too high (i.e. I shop at Whole Foods stores and some people say that is too expensive), I remind them that the cost of being overweight along with all of the medical, emotional, physical and mental problems that comes with it is much higher!

Your program is just that - yours. It is for you and you alone. If you are happy and doing well, then that is all that matters. Keep up the good work and to heck with the nay-sayers. I find in many cases, negative people like that are projecting because they are unhappy with their own lives.

Here's to our continued success! tongue.gif
