Vegetarians, please weigh in on this post

I have posted about this, not in the segregated "vegetarian" section of this forum, but under general comments.
I think we, as vegetarians, deserve better treatment from this company. It is my intention to put my post in the form of a communication to Jenny Craig. At least.
I don't know about you, but I don't think a diet of bland pizza and pasta with tomato sauce is acceptable, or a healthy option for losing weight. Jenny Craig could make some simple changes to its menu to give us a better variety of options. That they don't shows how little they care about us. Maybe they need to hear more of our voices.
Please let me know what you think.

I totally agree with you on that and have issues with them of my own. I have been on the program (they put me at 1500 cals...but I think their program, at least for me is too heavy on the starches) for 3 weeks now and have only lost a whopping 1 pound. They tell me to drink more water, I already drink between 3 and 4 quarts a day. They tell me not to eat raw veggies, I don't (except for lettuce greens and tomatoes) and always cook my veggies. They tell me to increase my exercise, well I already do 3 days of 90 minute workouts with a trainer and 3 of the other 4 days I walk between 15,000-20,000 steps. I wonder what excuse they are going to come up with this week. I am disgusted with not only the program but the center to which I go to.
Good luck to you and I am considering switching to a vegan lifestyle...Hope more folks back you on this!

I am so upset because my counselor told me today that they are taking away the new quesidilla! What the heck...we have SO few options and now we will have one less! I just sent in a comment/complaint about this! I have been on Jenny for 13 months (have lost 79lbs) and am so sick of the limited options! I have 24 more pounds to go and don't know if I can handle the limitations for us vegetarians!

If you can hang with all JC food until half-way, you will be afforded the opportunity to work in veggie burgers, more brown rice, tofu, etc. so that you have more of a variety in your diet.
Also, if you really want to lose weight badly enough, ask yourself, "Is it worth it to me to temporarily subsist on pizza, pasta and a variety of meatless breakfasts to make that happen?"
I agree, more veggie entrees would be nice. You can consult with your JCC on how to plan a few MOMOs each week to break up the monotony you are experiencing.
Good Luck

FWIW, I recently was discussing the JC process for retiring & introducing entrees with my JCC & Center Director, and they both said the most effective way to pursuade JC Corp is to contact them directly.
Here's the link to the contact page: http://www.jennycraig.com/contact?_DARGS=/...ntact/index.jsp
FYI, I just put in a plug for the quesadilla, too!

I just ran across this post and agree totally. I started the program and did well lost 15 pounds rather easy. However, after fasting a few weeks stopped eating meat totally. My weight lost has stalled and has been difficult to re-group based on the limited options and heavy carb veggie selections.
I hope they provide more options, I would really like to continue on this plan instead of seeking other options. I also agree that there should be more options because after a while the choices can get a little boring. At the end of the day it works, and I was happy to know they did have veggie items that taste good, just wish there were more. If you didn't tell anyone most people wouldn't be able to taste the different and they do veggie well.
Just my two cents.......

Someone else posted that they had suggested that JC add veggie fajitas, veggie chili, tofu stir-fry, vegetable potstickers or veggie burgers. I agree with all of those, and would also like to see a vegetarian version of the "stuffed sandwich"--the one that, in its "Chicken Stuffed Sandwich" version, looks like a "pocket." I just don't understand why there's not a "Broccoli-n-Cheese Stuffed Sandwich."
What I would like to see is something a little stronger than just writing individually to suggest these things: what about a petition?

So far, the only veggie JC meal I've had was the cheesy tortellini soup and I thought it was (surprisingly) really tasty. They use a meat substitute in that recipe, so clearly they are aware of that option and should introduce more menu items containing it. I also think variety by cuisine would help boost options and flavor (Asian, Indian, etc.) and satisfy the vegetarian palette.

Thank you for contacting Jenny Craig.
Jenny Craig does not offer a vegetarian menu. However, we do offer
meatless items, which contain no animal by-products. These items are
symbolized by a Carrot icon next to the cuisine items. While these
items contain no animal by-products, it is important for us to state
that certain items within our meatless menu contain dairy and egg as
well as some animal-derived enzymes. These animal-derived products
include, but are not limited to, amylase, buttermilk, calcium lactate,
L-Cysteine, egg, gelatin, honey, lactose, milk, cheese, rennet, sodium
caseinate and whey and are designed to meet the needs of lacto-ovo
vegetarians. For additional information, please contact our Customer
Care department at 1-800-JennyCare.
Best wishes on your weight management goals,
Kinda disappointing. I was initially buying the vegatarian options but got very bored with pizza and pasta every day, so I've started buying non-vegetarian meals, removing the meat, and in some cases substituting with Boca or Morning Star meat substitutes.... But I can't help thinking that this goes against one of my primary reasons for giving up meat 3 years ago---the animals are still be used in the non-vegetarian meals even if I'm removing the meat. Bummer.

I also called as to why the cheesecake (which I was sent in my original shipment) was not vegetarian, and was told because of the the animal-derived rennet used. My consultant, who liked to profess she was vegetarian as well, had not heard of this before. She also was really a pescatarian, not vegetarian.
I would have liked more support, and especially more food choices. I did manage to live on 4 lunch options for 4 months. But I am much happier planning my own menus. And I think the idea of a hummus salad lunch option is a great one. I had no non-frozen lunch options for when I travel.

Smart Ones and Lean Cuisine foods. My consultant was understanding about the limitations and didn't give me grief when i bought the other brands. she said as long as they are still around 300 calories they were okay. If anyone should complain to the powers that be, it should be the consultants especially if they are losing commission because we have to buy the competitions products. On maintenance now for 2 months!

I didn't renew my plan because of the limited Vegetarian Options...I only lost 1/2 of what I wanted and just became so bored with the options, I ran away. I can also tell you this topic has been ongoing for at least 6 years. JC clearly could care less about Vegetarians. I would suggest Amy's: http://amys.com/health/diet-plan. They get it and their food is wonderful.
