Throw the cookies in the trash, then pour coffee grounds and toilet water on top of them!!! The cravings will get better but for now try to get rid of any junk that is in the house. Have a piece of fruit, go for a walk, brush your teeth or just go to bed. You can do this - just take it a day at a time.

Thanks so much, I gave the two I set aside to my b.f. and asked him to hide the rest. I will NOT bring any of my favorite cookies into the house. I thought I was stronger, no so. Thanks again. smile.gif

It takes a very strong person to stand up and do what's right for yourself even when it's difficult and against what you have always done. It's not a weakness to not have unhealthy foods in the house. In fact, just the opposite! You're taking the first step to living like a normally weighted, healthy person! You CAN be that person!!

Try to focus on all of the positive things that you are CHOSING to do for yourself instead of just trying to avoid the bad things. Mindset matters! You can do this!

Here's a suggestion on cravings that I find helpful.

Whenever a craving happens I set a kitchen timer for 30 minutes or an hour. Then I get busy doing something else - anything else - and I tell myself that I can't even think about whatever is I'm craving until the timer goes off.

More often than not, by the time the timer goes off, I've calmed down and can make an intelligent DECISION about eating something (or more often NOT eating something) because I give myself time to weigh the consequences.

And please stop beating yourself up about your Turkey Day. That weight will come off fairly quickly. But before Christmas (or another food holiday), TRY to plan what you're going to eat BEFORE you get to where you're going. Also make sure you pack a JC snack and bring along a "healthy" but tasty dish to enjoy - a fruit salad, a special veggies recipe, etc. The hostess will appreciate it (if you're going out) and you can "splurge" on things you're supposed to eat.

Also make sure that you consume extra water BEFORE you sit down at the table. The water will fill up your stomach so that eating extra will be more difficult (and possibly painful) so you'll be better prepared and won't be filled with so much regret over your "slip."
