Ok this might be corny, but I got this idea from a magazine and wanted to share…

All of us here are either trying to change our bodies or learning to maintain our new found lifestyle. In all the weeks that we were counting calories or exchanges, battling hunger pangs, pushing ourselves through a variety of exercises, etc….did we ever stop and thank our bodies for putting up with all of our shenanigans? We all have highs and lows when it comes to our self images, but I think taking a few minutes to realize what all our bodies have given us is important and that's exactly what the magazine article asked its readers to do…to take a few minutes and write a letter to their body. I thought that was a brilliant idea so…I'd like to share mine.

Here's my letter to my body:

Thank you for not giving up on me even when I wasn't fueling you properly by skipping meals or binging on packages of Oreos. Thank you for surviving those four years of college despite the sleepless nights and too much alcohol. I'm a success because of it. I know sometimes I complain about those pesky stretch marks, but truly I'm not embarrassed by you. Thank you for my crooked smile and strangely small ears and large head, it gives me character and makes me unique. Thank you for not stopping when I asked you to push beyond your limits and instead grew stronger and faster and healthier….you amaze me. This journey is just beginning so stick with me, I'd like to have you around for the next 80 years.

Whether you've just started your JC journey or you have reached your goal everyone here is a masterpiece in the making so take a minute to realize just how beautiful you really are right now despite how much you have or haven't lost yet. I'd like to encourage everyone to feel free to share their letter to their body to inspire themselves or just take inspiration from others.

Well my letter would go something like this -- Dear Aching Back, please leave me alone! I remember the sciatica from last winter which I could thank you for because you were my inspiration to join Jenny. Dear back, you were better for so long and I rewarded you by losing 26 lbs and exercising. I am enjoying my journey but was brought to tears when you started rearing your ugly head a few days ago. Please go away and leave me alone....let me continue on my weight loss journey. I am trying so hard and feeling so good about myself, please dear aching back and disks -- slip right back into alignment and let me continue. I promise to get more weight off of my spine and therefore less work for you.

Well that about sums up what I would tell my body -- pleading to let me continue. Angela
