24 & live in hollywood (aka land of the skinny)

I'm new to the program -- just joined yesterday, and already feel great about the decision. I tend to commit to diets for 6-10 weeks on average. I really really can't afford to fall of the wagon AGAIN! I started gaining weight after high school, and have gained a total of 59lbs (as of my Jenny weigh in yesterday) and I'm only 24!! I can't avoid making this lifestyle change any longer, and am hoping that my JC consultant and some of you out there will help to keep me motivated, and accountable for my actions!!
I live in Los Angeles and work in the Film & TV business. I'm so tired of being surrounded by beautiful people who project such a sense of confidence at the various events that I have to attend for work. As it stands, I avoid invitations to socialize because I'm so embarrassed of how big I've gotten. I cringe anytime my boss tells me that my presence will be required at a work-related/social event, because I'm terrified that I will be the biggest, frumpiest dressed, and most uncomfortable person in the room. By the end of this journey, it's my goal to be excited about attending work related and social events, knowing that I can put any outfit on and look (and feel) just fabulous about myself!! Is that such a far off concept?? It sure seems like it right now!
Anyone else feeling the pressure to lose weight because of their work or office life?? Anyone in a similar situation looking for a support buddy?? : )

I totally understand what you're going through. Aside from my day job, I used to love performing improv and singing but because of my weight gain, I just felt too self conscious to go out on stage with people watching me. Most of the time its in your head, but I fully understand the catty behaviour and pressure of being in the entertainment biz.
I joined JEnny to get my life (or really my eating) back on track and to feel better about my body. I hope then I can take more risks and do the things I enjoy without feeling so worried about what other people think. I do believe that you have to believe in yourself before anyone else can...me thinks I'm going all Dr. Phil on ya...heh heh. Sorry about that. Anyways, drop me a line if you want to keep in touch about your journey....

I feel the same - I live in San Diego (also land of the skinny), and have been overweight for too long. I hate not wanting to go out downtown because I don't feel good about my weight, and everyone around me will be looking hot. I hate avoiding the beach because I don't like the way I look in a bathing suit (and can't wear a two-piece).
I need to make this lifestyle change for good- I joined JC because I'm terrified of never making it to that place where I truly love the way I look, and can put on anything and feel comfortable.
If you're still looking for support, I'm here! I've got a while (aka 55ish lbs) to go after my first month on the program, but I need to make sure I stick with it, even through work stress and everything else. Congrats on all your successes so far!

Hi tessa,
I am from san diego as well, I totally understand! It also looks like we have nearly the same starting weight, did it on my own for several months, lost 30 lbs but was stuck and losing way to slowly so I started jenny 3 weeks ago, and we have basically the same goal too.
I'm on my phone so its hard to type much, but I would live to chat and keep each other accountable if you would like.
