Hi everyone!

My name is Brandi and I'm really excited/nervous about starting JC. I have been overweight for pretty much my whole life. I have always pushed the reality of my weight out of my head and avoided dealing with it all together. I'm sick of not fitting into things, having no energy and looking in the mirror and feeling like the person looking back isn't me! That time is over! I am 21, and I have so much ahead of me. I want so many things for myself and I want most of all to live to experience them! I am 5'9, 352lbs (ouch- hurts admitting it) and I have 190-200lbs to loose (daunting!). Thankfully I do have a very supportive boyfriend and my mom is actually doing JC with me! I'm at the point where there is no other option but to change, so bring it on JC!

Welcome Brandi!! You are going to love the program. In my opinion the food is delicious and the program is easy to follow. Be sure to use your free foods when you get hungry (that was a huge help for me my first week). Drink plenty of water and plan ahead. I did WW on and off for years & never made it past the 3rd week. Too much flexibility for me. "Oh, I can have 25 points... that's 25 points of cookies and cakes for me!" I just finished my 4th week and feel like I've made a lifestyle change that I'm so excited about. I keep my menu on the front of my fridge & mark the foods off as I eat them. It's also a reminder to me as I enter the fridge! smile.gif

You're gonna do great Brandi and before you know it you'll be celebrating your first 10 pounds!

I was just thinking that about WW, having all that flexibility was like permission to keep eating the junk and just finding ways to work it into my daily 'points', repeating the same things day after day because it was easier than trying to figure out new meals, I also ended up eating all sorts of 'diet products' that were just messing with my head and never really satisfied my usual cravings. JC has really helped learn to eat a variety of foods in proper portions, and I am never bored, also eating more fruit and veg than ever. Loving it!

Welcome Brandi... just remember that when you lose that 'person' you might just gain a new one, yourself, feeling comfortable in your own body... and we all deserve that.

Thanks for all of the positive encouragement guys, it helps!! So I received my first JC at home shipment yesterday and I started JC this morning. How yummy are those blueberry pancakes right?! I'm so thrilled it didn't taste like dog food, lol. I too also did WW before and while I lost some weight, telling me "you can eat anything as long as you have the points" really didn't help me learn much except how can I sneak A & B in. Calculating points also wasn't working very well. I found myself not doing it after awhile. Here's to hoping JC will work for me biggrin.gif.

Hi Brandi,

Welcome to the JC Family. You're not alone on this journey. I was in a similar state like you were when I started with 207lbs to lose 17 months ago and I am so close to my JC goal. Please feel free to PM me if you need any support or have any questions.

Spinning classes are both really good for weight loss and dropping inches. I have been doing them 1x a week (will be doing 2x a week starting in September) for over 2 months and have lost 7.5 inches from doing that (total loss of inches: 85 inches with the hope of losing a little more at my next Milestone Consultation on Sept 2nd).

All the best!

It takes longer to lose weight than to gain.
A little weight loss is as great as big loss
.
There may be weeks your weight may go up a little bit,
but don't get discouraged because even though your weight may be up
one week, you may still be losing inches and gaining muscle.

Your weight is only a number. The changes you see overall physically and
mentally are the things that truly matter the most. Don't get fixated on
your weight number.
In other words, your weight isn't the only measure of your success. Put away the scale and you may just see how far you've
really come
.

Keep in mind that each week is different.

Don't stop & stick with it.

"You deserve your fullest life back. You deserve to be able to breathe deeply.
You deserve to be able to walk as far and as fast as you want to walk —
and to run if you wish. You deserve to be able to buy clothing from any
store you walk into. You deserve quality foods to serve yourself — fresh,
filled with flavors and nutrients and textures and color. You deserve to be
proud of who you are — to revel in your strength of mind, body and
character. You deserve to walk the streets and beaches feeling eyes
on you and knowing you look strong and healthy. You are doing something
that many, many people believe they cannot do or flat-out will not do.

I will repeat that….

You're doing something that many, many people believe
they cannot or flat-out will not do.

Welcome and best of luck. I'm only into this a week, but it already feels more sustainable. I agree with you all about WW. Although good concepts, there are too many ways to "legally cheat." I found myself eating 100cal popcorn every night b/c I could. I even asked at a meeting, and the perception was that it was OK---somehow that doesn't see so OK. I'm happy to have real food, good variety, and better portions. I think the key for us is to just stick with it and promise ourselves we won't quit, no matter what!
I started JC in August 2010 and hit goal 110 lbs later in December 2011. I'm now living a wonderful new life that is balanced with a daily focus on mindful eating, activity, and commitment to a healthy lifestyle. Day one was rough, lol. But I did it! One day at a time right? I credit some of that to the chicken sandwich I tried to eat for lunch, breakfast was great but that was kinda gross. I think I'm going to have to take that out of future menus.

Julianna- Wow! You have done fantastic, so many people have its really a great boost of hope for me. I have an extercise bike at home and I've committed myself to biking 30 mins in the morning and 30 mins at night. Its working out pretty well thus far biggrin.gif.

Noah- Thanks so much! I read through your thread and the changes you have made are just awesome, you look great! It's really inspiring.

Margie- I 100% agree! I would eat the 100 cal yogurt pretzals like every night lol >.>

Sidenote: As I am typing I'm eating my breakfast of the Cheese Omelette and potatos, can we do breakfast for every meal please? Jk smile.gif

Brandi, congrats on starting JC. The cheese omelet is my favorite breakfast too along with the blueberry pancakes, lol. As you go along, you will find out what things you like and don't like. You get into your routine and the weight just falls off. Currently, I am about your weight but started at 438.2 pounds about 7 months ago. It definitely works if you stick to it. The forums offered me a lot of support when I first started and I hope you can find the same when you need it. Keep it up!

Start weight on 1/8/10: 438.2 lbs
Current weight: 317.8 lbs
Total weight loss: 120.4 lb
Ultimate goal weight: 150 lbs

Ultimate Goal -

Brandi,
I am so excited for your decision to come a healthier you. I am a Jenny Craig client also, and had tried every program out there. I have to tell you Jenny Craig was the first one to stick. It took me 6 months to lose 12 lbs on my own before starting Jenny. I lost 137 lbs. on Jenny for a total of 149 lbs pounds and have kept it off for coming up on 3 yrs. The program works! All those pounds really do add up. I know it is rough at first, but with time it gets much easier. Right now you have to think about your choices, after awhile that's just the way you think and crave healthier foods. Stick with it, it is soooooooo, worth it!

A word of advice, make smaller mini goals and the final number won't be so overwhelming. You can do this!

Good morning everyone!

So despite being sick since Monday (don't you just love flu season), I lost 3.4 lbs this week. I was hoping for more, and I know I would have gotten it had I been able to exercise the past three days and get all of my food in. I think this next week will be great, I'm starting to feel better and I would like to get 5lbs down this upcoming week. Good luck everyone! :]

WELCOME BRANDI!

I just wanted to say that I think we ALL have a "person" to lose independent of the amount of weight we need to rid ourselves of. We ALL have to "lose" the person who wants to eat in response to life, we ALL have to lose the person who wants instant gratifications, we ALL have to lose the person who has an all or nothing mindset, we ALL have to lose the person who wants to have a pity party, we ALL have a person to lose so you ARE NOT ALONE!

I want to encourage you to find a group to be accountable to on these boards. There are SOOO many GREAT boards to choose from so look around and dig in and get to "know" people who will hold your "cyber" hand all the way to your goal. I personally post the most on the JATTNE board in the General Forum but find your "place" and GO FOR IT.

Lastly.....no matter what FIGHT for your RIGHT to reach your goal. DO NOT QUIT. DO NOT EVER entertain thoughts of quitting. DO NOT EVER entertain the thoughts of anyone else encouraging you to quit. Whether you have a 1200 calorie day or a 12,000 calorie day...NOW is ALWAYS available to begin again.

All the best to you!!!!

Hope

Morning Everyone!

Jenn- I get lots of inspiration from these forums, there are some amazing people who have accomplished so much! You can do it, we can do it! I'm starting to have more energy and I feel less fatigued dropping 10.6lbs thus far in two weeks! If you need a buddy I'm here!

Hope- You are 100% correct! I love the idea of being accountable to a group on the forums. I will check out the JATTNE forums and a couple other places. Thanks for the words of encouragement! :]

Another week and another 3.1 lbs gone! I was hoping for 5lbs but surprise TOM came and considering all of that I am very happy with this week. I did not cheat or give in to any TOM cravings and I am VERY proud of myself for that. It is no easy feat! So total, 3 weeks and 14.1lbs lost thus far. I cant wait to see where I will be a year from now. biggrin.gif
