Goal!

I was difficult during my first consultation. I remember telling them the following:
1. I will not give up Diet Coke. (I haven't, but I only allow myself one after drinking all of my water and milk for the day.)
2. I will not exercise. (I now exercise 5-7 days a week--either formally at the gym or with a walk with the family.)
3. I will not be able to drink all of the water they suggested. (I do--and then some.)
4. I will not give up eating out. (I haven't given it up, but it really isn't something I'm usually interested in any more.)
5. I didn't have any hope JC would really work.
6. My weight doesn't bother me. (I believed it at the time. I just thought I should try to get healthier. I think I was deluding myself. Why did I cry that first meeting if it didn't bother me? Why did I go? I do remember being shocked when I would look in the mirror. I didn't see myself as that heavy. Now, I'm shocked when I look in the mirror for a different reason! I have a link below in my signature for before and after pics!)
I guess my point is that I really did make small changes along the way and did not make a big change all at once like I had tried to do in the past. JC counselors really spent time educating over a year's time. I started with the water. As I began losing weight, I added in more and more exercise. I don't love exercise, but I feel like I need it and want to be active or I feel gross. At halfway, I bought the bodybugg, which is an absolutely fabulous tool! I change up my exercise constantly to try to avoid a plateau. I constantly learn and change through this process. I'm really excited to begin my lifelong maintenance phase but am scared too! Adding in more calories seems scary to me now!
Thanks for "listening" and good luck on your journey! It's progress not perfection!

wow. you are truly inspiring. i just started this week and i really want to do what you did. any suggestions for people just starting out? just reading your story i feel like we have a lot of similar obstacles (or had rather, you seem to have conquered them!) one thing for sure i can relate to is diet coke addiction. did cutting it out really help you? and if so how did you do it?
any tips to help me would be great. thanks and CONGRATULATIONS!!! Amazing.

Cutting back on diet coke really did help; mostly because I wasn't drinking enough water. I have not cut it out though! I just drink all of my water for the day before I allow myself a diet coke. I currently drink at least 72 oz of water a day, add to that 16 oz of milk a day, 12 oz of coffee a day, and I don't always have room for the diet coke. Good luck to you, Laura!

Many people still talk to me about negative aspects of JC. I say do what works for you. I can certainly find something in the news or on the Internet that is negative about anything in life. In the end, all that matters is me and what works for me. JC has worked for me, and I have certainly worked it! Good luck with your journey!

Sweetie, that is not a friend. We all have people in our lives that try to sabotage us. There are negative reviews on EVERY diet (eating plan) out there. As a consumer, our job is to weigh the pros and cons and realize... Healthy weight comes from
Portion Control
Better Choices
Movement
JC helps with the first two... a whole LOT!!! The 3rd is up to you.
