Hi,

I am halfway into my 4th week and have lost 8lbs. I am worried this will slow to a crawl so I am exercising 6-7 days a week for at least an hour at a time. Usually walking at a quick pace. I could use a buddy to keep me going and motivated!!

I just finished my first week weigh in. Down 4.2 lbs. My metabolic max arm band is charging and I will start wearing it tomorrow.

Hi I also just finished my 2nd week & I'm broken hearted. My 1st weigh in I lost almost 1 lb. Today I weighed in & gained 6 oz. So my total loss is 1/2 lb. I have followed the plan perfectly these 2 weeks. I felt like crying & I told my counselor that as she noticed I looked defeated. I will stick it out for the month but its heartbreaking to spend this $ for 6 oz.

I just had to get on the board & vent. thanks for listening. VIA

I'm sure it is normal. I've heard it's harder to lose weight as a person gets older. Celebrate the little successes though.

The weight loss is by far harder during menopause. I have been back on Jenny since September and lost 15 lbs,
the last two months I have started seeing menopausal symptoms and have had no weight loss whatsoever.
Even though my weight is the same my waistline is getting bigger. So I will pump up the exercise a notch and see what happens. I wish Jenny could help fine tune certain changes and conditions we have such as menopause. My consultant says even with no exercise I should still keep losing on 1200 calories.
I don't agree.

Just wanted to post and say HEH to the 50+ community of dieters! I lost 60 lbs on WW when I was 40 and kept it off for 12 years, gained a lot of it back in the past 5 yrs and have been struggling to take it off again (on my own). And yes, I do attribute some of the blame to menopause and thyroid. But most of the blame is on me, not being diligent. I finally owned up to that and joined JC at 57, and lost 3 lbs my 1st wk, and I am a shameful exerciser. 52 pounds in 52 weeks is my goal! (40th HS reunion in 2012-that'll get ya motivated :-) We just have to hang in there! My favorite diet mantra is "Nothing tastes as good as thin feels". Bye for now...

I have had the same problem. I never weighed over 120 lbs. Now I weigh 147 lbs. and look and feel awful. I am 55 and gained all of my weight going through menopause. I joined JC 3 weeks ago and have lost only 2.2lbs. I hope it gets better. Also, I NEVER had a stomach. Now I look like I am pregnant. Has anyone had the same problem. I swear if I do not lose this big gut, I am going to have it sucked out! lol! I've been doing 20 minutes a day on my treadmill, and am planning on doing Valerie's DVD. I hope that it helps. Hope to hear from anyone going through the same thing. I really need some encouragement!

I do have that same problem. All my weight goes straight to my stomach. I am sick of having a beer belly. I started at 143 pounds and I am now down to 119 and I still have a 32 inch waist...totally not cool. I am 52 and I haven't gone through the change yet, I got my weight gain from quitting smoking. Keep doing what you are doing you will lose the weight. Don't give up just because we are over 50 doesn't mean we have to look like our Grandma's did :)

I am so glad I found this part of the message boards. Menopause is making me insane. The insomnia, the hot flashes, the SLOW weight loss! This is my fifth JC week. The hardest part is night. I can lay awake until as late as 3 a.m. Ugh. I'm going to see a doctor about bioidentical hormone replacement therapy next week. Hope it helps. Thanks for letting me vent.

I just started JC today. Can't wait to get going. I'm 52 and menopause has kicked my behind! Gained 20lbs in a couple of months after going off The Pill. Ouch! Can't get it off on my own. I know it will take some time but I can't help but want a little immediate gratification. (4-5 lbs 1st week). That's probably unreasonable, but I could do it in my 30s and 40s....This is the only part of getting older that I can't stand...that and hot flashes, night sweats, and any excuse to stay home. Ha!

I hear you! And I thought it would be so nice not to have a period once a month. Instead I get hot flashes and night sweats all month long! I just started taking GNC's vitamin packs for menopausal women. If anything improves I'll let you know! The weight loss is journey is much slower than the weight gain ride! But when we get there and look back, I'm sure it won't seem so long! Welcome aboard!

Hi Friends, I am a newbie. This is my 3rd day on the program. I am 56 and post menopausal. 5 years ago I had lap band surgery and lost 40 lbs. Alot of throwing up and feeling sick has come with that, not suggested. Anyway, I have gained back 15 of those lbs. and knew I had to do something. I have severe arthritis in my knees, back and hands so my exercise is very limited. I deal with alot of pain with this and know that losing weight will help. My life has been very limited and I NEED a change DESPERATELY. So, here I go again. I feel like a total failure when it comes to weight loss. I mean if you can't lose weight after having surgery then can you ever? I know I am an emotional eater from a stressful life and unhappy marriage. I am a "Gammie" now and need help to lose. I would appreciate help and support and friends who are struggling with this as well. I didn't mean to sound like such a Debbie Downer but this is my story. I feel blessed to be on here and find you all. Thank-you... :)

Just wanted to welcome you to JC. There are some wonderful people on this plan and they are always willing to answer any questions you may have and provide you with any emotional support. Good luck to you and hope to talk again on the boards.

I really need to have something visual to inspire me (no, nothing like THAT). But if you put a 1 ib can of food or bag of sugar or whatever in a bag each time you lose a pound, you can quickly see how much weight is no longer on your body. Even a pound can look impressive!
