I live in Houston. I started on Saturday and so far so good. Food is not bad I have spiced some of it up and added onions and mushrooms on some of it. Just to suit my taste but overall it seems very easy. Love the fact I do not have to think about what I am going to eat.

I would love to chat with you and give each other support. I check in every day so I look forward to chatting with you!

HI Sandy,
I tried, without success, to reply to your post yesterday. Just want to say that we have much in common. I too am new to JC direct, am a mother of two girls, needing to lose 35 lbs or so (code for 'or more') and work full time (from home, however).
Phew!
I'd love to know how you're doing!

Hi D,

I am on Day 5 and so far so good. The only things I do not care for so far is the Turkey and Gravy and the Breakfast Scramble, but then again I am not much of a turkey person unless it is Thanksgiving or Christmas LOL. Everything else is very tasty. I feel full most of the time.

When did you start? How is it going for you? How do you like the food? Are you exercising at all? I have not started, I am hoping to start next week. Where do you live?

I would love to chat with you and talk about our journey.

Hi Sandy!

I started on the 9th but anticipated a days that I would not be strictly following the diet (friends in town, baby shower, summer parties...life!) But, rather than wait for this magical time in my life when there would be no outside distractions, my JC consultant and I figured that the "two steps forward, one step backward" approach is at least one step forward! You see, I've tried this diet before (going to the JC center) and stopped the second I deviated from the diet. I know it will work so this time I'm going direct and not giving up. Slow and steady is my plan.

As for working out, I live in California and have some incredible areas to walk. I've been either working our on an eliptical machine for 30 minutes, or doing a 3 mile walk about 3 times per week. The exercise part I've always loved! The food part is hard, be it skipping meals or worse, mindless noshing throughout the day. I'll help you with the activity part, perhaps you can help me with the food? (which I love for the most part)

Here's a tip: A friend gave me a pair of her Skeetchers Shape Up shoes about a year ago. Recently I took them out and I wore them on a day outing with my 9 year old, just walking around and playing etc. with her and a few friends. The next morining my legs were seriously sore! I now wear them when I walk. Just put on the iPod, pick out 8-10 favorite songs and walk fast! I LOVE THEM!

As for weight, I lost 2.5 lbs the first week. I haven't weighed myself since. I was so disappointed that I did not experience the 'big drop' that I figured I'll weigh myself every two weeks instead. Especially since my approach is more 80/20 vs. 100% right now.

Trying to get there (100%)

I'll let you know how it goes.

D,

I think that weight loss is great! They say you are only suppose to loose 1 to 2 pounds a week so you are doing wonderful, especially if you are not doing it every day.

Great tip on the shoes, I will try this weekend to pick some up. I have some workout DVD's that I ordered that should be here tomorrow so hopefully that will help also, especially since it seems to want to rain everyday here.

I also have tried JC once before at the Center but it did not last very long and I was not very committed. The center never had any of the food that I wanted in stock and it was really hard to get there so I kind of just quit. This time I really, really want to lose the weight and I think Jenny Direct is so much easier. This fits my busy lifestyle. My 9 year old starts soccer again week after next and then we are on the go all the time. My 4 year old starts PreK this year so I will be busy at the school with her also, along with going to work. My boss has generously let me change my hours to 6:30 to 3:30 so I can spend some time with the kids.

I have to keep my 9 year old away from my cheesecake though. LOL But I am really liking the food and my husband is a really good cook so he helps cook vegetables differently so I can add them.

He diced up yellow squash and zucchini with garlic and jalapenos, little bit of worchestershire sauce and soy sauce and I added that to my macaroni and cheese and it was really good, plus it added my 1/2 cup of vegetables.

Anyway let me know how you are doing, take care,

Sandy

Good Morning Sandy and D,

Congrats on your weight loss Sandy!! Good Job! Congrats to you too D!! I have also been feeling better this week. Before JC, I went out to eat lunch with coworkers everyday and I never made healthly choices. I'm going to try do some exercise this weekend.

I had the egg scrambler this morning and I poured too much salsa on it. All I could really taste was the salsa! I'm excited to have my cookie tonight, but I really LOVE cheesecake night!

Have a great day!!

Hi Sandy and Kim,
It's fun checking in and finding that Sandy has started a little group here!
Kim, thanks for the laugh with your salsa story! I put tobasco sauce on mine (the eggs) and imagined overdoing it in THAT situation! How's your progress? Great job making the change to JC lunches. I am beginning to see that making changes to our routines is THE hardest part. For me, anyway!

Sandy, how's your exercise? I feel your pain, running your head off when your little one begins school! One thing I have done a few times and will try to do more is keep the chicken salad kits in my car. I've even kept the soupitizers (sp?) in my car and stopped in a gas station mini mart, bought a diet soda and asked to use the microwave on a couple of days that I seemed to spend hours in my car. As for your food prep, wow! I'm trying your dices veggies, garlic, jalapenos and worchestershire and soy sauce. I think your husband may have to start his own blog.

All the pieces of my puzzle seem to be there, but I'm trying to make sense of it each day.

That being said, the weekend is here and my 80/20 approach has really been applying to the weekend days...me just trying to be careful with food choices while eating non-Jenny food and allowing myself a glass or two of wine. This week, however, I'm going to try to only allow myself one 'free' day if any. You see, I have just been hit with the reality of seeing family and friends for a family celebration (about 35 of us) the first weekend of October.
These are family members that live on the opposite coast, and I haven't seen most of them since a wedding about 6 years ago. When I was thin.
That means I need to get this butt into some skinny jeans PRONTO! When I married my husband, I was a size 6, about 122lbs. I even returned to my pre-pregnancy weight AFTER my last child was born. But over these past 4 years or so I have become a fatty. There, I said it! Losing 35 lbs wouldn't even bring me to the said weight (but close enough) But, I'm being realistic, not crazy, and losing 35 lbs....or 40 would get me to a very healthy, happy weight.

Just wonder how much of a difference I can make in 9-10 weeks. I just want to look more like me. I'm afraid they won't recognize me.

I guess my question should be 'white wine or white jeans' -eh? smile.gif

I love to read these post of one month out and see how much everyone has lost. Im amazed for the most part. Anyway, would love to join in on the board. Ive posted on a few boards and they seem to be dead...Rene

D, Kim, and Rene,

When you go to tickerfactory, you pick the weightloss one you have to look at the choices below, it is a little confusing, then it will take you to a page and you can pick which design you would like then you can paste on your profile page. You have a pin # and every week or whenever you want to update it you just go back in and update it.

D, you are doing fantastic, I wish I could do some on my own, but I do not trust myself enough. I have not started exercising, but I am going to the mall today to try and find those shoes you were talking about. Also I just received this morning some workout DVD's so I plan on starting Monday morning. It has been raining almost every evening here so walking has been kind of out of the question.

In 9 to 10 weeks I bet you could be down by 20 lbs at least. I don't know how tall you are but it sounds like we are about in the same boat LOL. I would love to get down 35 to 40 lbs.

I talked with my JCC yesterday, he is so very nice, and told him in the next shipment what not to send me. There are only a few things I find that just don't do it for me. but I find this program pretty easy. I know what you all mean about the hot sauce though LOL, But then again I love spicey things so I don't mind. I am not big on the egg items so I won't be getting them anymore. I like fresh cooked eggs. If I could cook my own eggs I would do much better. Maybe later on.

If my husband comes up with some more easy ideas for vegetables I will post them. LOL He really can come up with lots of ways to cook things. As you can tell he does all the cooking in the house. He can make a meal out of nothing and make it taste good LOL. I would just ruin it. biggrin.gif

Kim and Rene, keep up the good work and let us here how you all are doing. It is really nice to have everyone to talk with.

Take care everyone and talk with you soon.

Sandy,
I just noticed your weight loss! 3.4 lbs...YOU GO GIRL!
I'm sorry to hear about your constant rain. Try your DVD workouts in the shoes if you do get them. They force your posture into a correct position which is great. I wear them on the elliptical machine and while doing squats and light weights. I admit that I feel a bit strange wearing them (I feel like I look like Baby Spice...remember her?, with her stacked flip flops and sneakers) but they do work, I'm telling you. I'm sore again today.
I sound like I own the company smile.gif
Thanks for your encouragement! You're right...20lbs is possible in 9-10 weeks. By the way, I'm 5'5.

Rene, looking forward to seeing your TickerFactory post! I'm going to try this morning to figure it out. Thanks Sandy for the instructions.

Hello Sandy, D, and Rene,

I love having friends to check in with. I'm happy to see that everyone is on track and losing weight. Keep up the good work girls!

D, I'm sure you can get into those skinny jeans by the first of October! You go, girl! I'm like Sandy, in that I don't trust myself to eat anything but the JC food right now. LOL.

My first weigh in is tomorrow morning. I'm excited to see it. I haven't "cheated" one time in the last week. I don't think I've ever made it this long on a diet without cheating. I have a lot of weight to lose, but I'm really motivated to do it! My husband and I have been trying to get pregnant for over two years. We have done some fertility treatments, and we are considering doing some that are very expensive. My doctor says that losing weight can increase our chances, so I've got to do this!

Have a good week everyone!

Kim

Way to go Kim!!!!!!! biggrin.gif I am so happy for you! So all that hard work paid off. On to the next week, we can do it!

I was very proud of myself this weekend. I took the girls to the mall, and of course forgot to eat lunch, to buy school clothes and some clothes for camp for my older daughter, and of course they wanted something to eat so we stopped at the food court. I did not get one thing I waited until I got home and ate my JC food. Normally I would have gotten a pita wrap or something, pizza, McDonalds whatever. My schedule was really screwed up this weekend, but I really tried to eat everything. Even took my older daughter, Jennifer and her friend to the movies and just got a water. I am truly focused this time. Kim I am like you, I usually cheat, but I so want to lose this weight.

D and Rene can't wait to hear about your weigh in's. How is everything going. Oh D, I bought the shoes yesterday, they were even on sale!

Kim, I know about the fertility treatments, I went through them too, all of them to the most expensive one. You can PM if you have any questions, I can probably answer alot of questions for you. if you have any.

Starting my workout routine tomorrow. I watched it last nite to see what I needed. I need to go buy a mat. We do not have carpet just tile at home.

What is everybody's favorite food so far or what has surprised you. I though I would not like the Salisbury Steak but I really ended up liking it and the macaroni and cheese too.

Talk with you later,

Sandy

HI Sandy - and all !!
My name is Sandi (V) as well. And interest in Sandy's post about a buddy (in addition to her name) got me here. I am in a similar situation to some of you. Started JC as a "at home" client after my husband told me thats what he wanted for fathers day... still not sure completely how i felt about that but hey it got me started at least!

so then began the program with my first JC meals on my birthday, June 23 when i turned 48. I am the mother of one child (soon to be a 7 year old big boy). Needing to lose 30 or so pounds. started at 168lbs and now week six at 153.

kinda fell off the program a bit due to finances (the food is expensive when you pay for a month at time!) and due to storage (not enough room in freezer for JC food and family food). I am trying to get back on track with my own meals, snacks and portions - I stopped my bad snacking entirely - JC helped me with that and portion control. (seeing what was realistic for wieght loss) And I may now transfer my membership to a walk in center in order to buy smaller amounts of food at a time to help both with the $$ and storage.

so here I am - my very first post and hope to be as uplifting to you all as you seem to each other. Sandi V

Welcome Sandi!

Glad to have you aboard! Looks like you are off to a good start and on the right track.

One question, did they ship you a month's worth of food all at one time? Do you have a center that is close by? I sure understand about the money though. But I love the fact that I do not have to think about a thing, just look at the menu to see what I need to pull out to eat LOL.

I see they are putting the order sheet online so we just email our JCC our order now. I like that, although I just told my JCC what I wanted and what I did not want during my phone consult. I had the Chili the other night, anyone else try that yet, I just could not stomach that one. My husband started laughing at me. He said he was watching my face as I was eating it and was wondering how long it was going to take before I was going to stop eating it! LOL Guess that is one of the list not to order LOL.

I love the honey mustard pretzels, they were really good.

Ok girls lets here some updates - D, Kim and Sandi -

Talk with you all later. Have a great day! biggrin.gif
