Hi Everyone,

I'm getting married! Again! smile.gif

I should probably explain that, no? smile.gif

My husband and I married on NYE in 2005 (courthouse wedding). I was pg (long story there, too!) and we had a "forced" reception (for his family, as I was married once before and didn't really want one but whatev) in February 2007. While our marriage is WONDERFUL, both our "ceremony" and reception were...not. Lots of family drama, and mostly bad memories instead of good ones. Almost five years later and three beautiful kids (4, 3, and almost 9 mo old), and it's still kind of a blue subject, you know?

My DH recently just "re-proposed" to me and wants to have a ceremony for renewing our vows, and then a three hour open bar cocktail/hors d'oevures/"wedaversary" cake reception for fifty of our closest friends and family. The date is tentatively planned for March 5, 2011, so I know I should be able to meet my WL goal by then. Here's my question: it's been a loooooong time since I bought a gown (first wedding was over 9 yrs ago), and I'm a bit unsure as to when to order it. My dress is simple (very simple in design) and available in ivory (yay!) but available online only from David's Bridal. Do I order it sooner than later? Do I wait? Do I order a size that roughly fits now and pay out the @ss for alterations later which I'm hoping I will need? I don't know what to do. It's not an expensive dress (only about $145.00) but I hate to pay an addtl $100.00 for DB alterations at a later date.

So what would you do? Advise me, please. smile.gif Also, if anyone has any idea where I can get matching ivory dresses for my older and younger daughter (4T and 12 mo come March 2011), could you please let me know? It seems like all the matching dresses are from 2T and up. My son won't be a problem since I can find him a shirt and tie anywhere, but the girls...I'm at a loss.

Congrats to all the brides to be! Happy to be a part of this forum now. smile.gif

Congratulations on your renewal of your vows. I think that is wonderful!!

I think it is great you have found a dress you love at Davids bridal.
Just a little FYI about them. They will get their new stock in a few months and then the style you want will not be available unless you order it now in a smaller size. You can wait a little while if the style just came out which I think you should do because you will for sure go down a size or two. I got married last year and bought a size I thought I was. They did alterations and more alterations on the day of the wedding the dress was still too big. I was pulling it up all night. It was not the person who did the alterations fault. I was just losing weight too fast. There was even a corset in the dress, but it felt loose.

Oh and I took a look on the David's bridal site and looked up ivory dresses. They do have a few dresses for 12mon and 18mon and 24mon dresses. You just have to look for them. They may not match exactly to your dress, but it might come close.

I wish you all the luck. I think you will have a lot of fun in the planning and during the renewal and party.

Rule of thumb is 12 weeks, but thats for custom dresses. It may be less if David's has them in stock. So you're looking at by December. But you may want to check with David's just to make sure. They challenge is if it's an older style and if they discontinue or not.

I would even ask your conselor on a safe estimation on how much weight you could lose by then. Then you can estimate on the size (usually 2 sizes above normal sizes).

I'd try to postpone as much as possible, because they can only take in so much.

I hope this helps.
