I created a ticker for the group. I used a centipede for a few reasons, it is like we are 100 feet marching together, but a centipede also takes thousands of little steps each day and so are we. I used a heart because this board is so filled with love. WAY TO GO TEAM.

I weighed myself this morning (i do JD, so i weigh at home) and was 190.8 for a loss of 2lbs. I really wanted to get under 190! I'm so close its killing me. But i'm happy i've lost the 6+ lbs i gained plus some with memorial day weekend and my TOM.

i also took my measurements and i think my JCC did the ab one wrong?? Otherwise i would have gained 6 inches - HA. i guess i'll just calculate the total from my start in Jan.

Marathon - LOVE the ticker!! once i update the chart by removing those who aren't reporting in, it'll adjust the lbs lost goal. smile.gif

eferr - your welcome! Keep up the good work! biggrin.gif

Have a great day everyone!!

I weighed in 1 day earlier and am down 1.3 lbs...now my weigh in date is Tuesday instead of Wednesday so I can make the chart change date.

STILL sick with a chest infection, haven't been able to work out for over 10 days. Haven't fallen off the program but anxious to be able to walk etc to accelerate my weight loss again.

The good news is the 'jelly roll' around my belly is shrinking, I see and feel a BIG difference. I guess 9 lbs in 3 weeks isn't too bad. I'm committed to hitting that 25 lb weight loss mark on Labor Day! In another few days the antibiotics should be active enough in my system that I can resume my walks.

Thanks for all the posts, I enjoy reading about your challenges and successes!

Took the dog for a long walk/plod, pre jog, tonight. Everytime I came to this little hill I'd jog up it for Bridgit, I figure if I'm telling her she can take the hill on her bike rides I can make sure I run up the teeny tiny hill 6 times. I realized school is out next week so I'll be able to walk the dog in the mornings before I go to work when it's cooler. Yeah. Which is a good thing cause I'm pretty sure I might be doing a 1/2 Marathon in Maine in early Oct. Just walking it, maybe a little bit of plodding. WOW OMG!

Watching the Celtics game, they just played the part where after the last time they won a championship, Kevin Garnett yells "ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE". He is absolutely right. I can walk a 1/2 Marathon. Read a great article where my favorite football player now retired, Troy Brown, talks about how he accomplished so much, he said it's what he teaches his sons, it's about "I want". How much do you really want to acheive a goal? He is truly a great inspiration and a terrific role model for kids and adults.

So I want to lose 25lbs by Labor Day and I want to do a 1/2 Marathon this fall.

All,

So sorry I haven't checked in these last 2 weeks... been swamped with starting the travelling for my job (Fly in Monday morning and out Thursday night...)

Haven't been able to make it in to see my JCC in 2 weeks but am calling today and making my appointment. So my current weight is still the same.... ugh. I'm so happy you all have been losing weight and doing a great job! I can't wait till I can tell you my lower numbers smile.gif

I had a epiphany this morning... It's ok to NOT be 100% perfect on this plan. That's the main reason I haven't been too motivated and feel like I'm failing. I feel if I don't stick to the plan 100%, it doesn't matter. But this AM I realized that something is better than nothing and that life isn't perfect.

I'm determined to do this and to lose the 22lbs I WANT to lose by Labor Day.... I've remotivated myself and I'm committed to making this work! smile.gif

Good Luck this week.... I know I'll need it.

Suzanne,
I think you are right. I know there are people in these forums who are all about 100% or nothing, but I think I do about 80% and may be losing slower than some, but it is allowing me to live my life fully and do what I can do while still being happy and healthy.

Good luck with your re-commitment.

Hi Everyone,

Suzanne and Alison, it's not something better than nothing when you able to eat off plan and make good choices. It's Something! You all have difficult circumstances with traveling and still hanging in there with all the chances for excuses, it's fantastic. Sometimes it's also really hard to stay even close to plan because your not always in control about choosing restaurnats and such. I use to travel for work and it's tough, especially when your tired and hungry and unable to get your work outs in.

Alison, meant to tell you thanks for the centipede. your right all the small steps together make a big difference.

Robin hope you feel better soon, 9lbs in 3 weeks is great. Especially when your sick. You'll be able to work out before you know it.

Nanci03, that's a really good drop. Congrats!

Isabelle, who along with Alison has me doing a 1/2 marathon, Yay about breaking thru your plateau. Thanks for virtual training with me.

Bridgit, how's the biking? Take plenty of water it's suppose to get hotter later this week.

SDG, you'll have to get some ribbon to keep track of you inches. They are like a bonus after the lbs.

okay i'm going to get the miles in atleast 3 today. Hey Isabelle I counted we have 161/2 weeks.

OMG Nancy you are soooo funny!!! Running up the hill is such a great idea!!! And you wont believe it but I actually make it further up every day because I am thinking of you guys... one day I will make it up that hill!! Maybe even by Labour Day! biggrin.gif

Yesterday and today I didnt bike though since I had to dress up for VIP business visitors. But from tomorrow on I am going on my bike again! It's such a great feeling of accomplishment at night to come back, sweaty and tired but somehow really energized!

Yes Nancy - you are absolutely right! The temps are rising and it is getting more humid. I am doing it step by step and mile for mile and ALWAYS have 1-2 bottles of water in my little basket right in front of me. It helps a lot! Especially since the dirty roads and cars make your throat feel like sandpaper!

The program is going ok. I am eating a little more these days than I should (about 100 cal per day over my limit). I don't know why... Like 1/2 croissant here and 1/4 raisin bun there... not good!

Somehow today I feel I had to treat myself with food and with shopping. Very very bad! But things will lighten up again! I definitely now have a well stocked moisturizer and bodylotion cabinet! Annual supply.... sad.gif

Have a great day everyone and I can't wait for our next official weigh in!!!

Good morning everyone -

since this is a board about wins AND challenges - i thought i'd throw my challenges out there to 1. get them out of my head, and 2. would love any insight you all might have.

Plain and simple - i am stressed! it has been very busy week with many reports due and i'm limited on time. I am going out of town with my family tomorrow for a long weekend which i'm really excited about, but up until tomorrow morning i feel like i have the world to conquer and no time to do it in. This is leading to stress eating and lack of sleep and exercise. We don't have the 'extras' in the fridge - fruits/veggies since i haven't been to the store and we're leaving. ANd bc i'm stretched for time, i'm missing meals and then grabbing other things in its place. Extra snacks, extra milk, food on the run. ANd being overtired makes me overeat as well.

I know today will end and i'll be relaxed tomorrow, which leads to another challenge - letting my plan get loose and overeating with our friends. glasses of wine, bbq's, etc. and wondering if i'll be able to workout (we are going to their place -not sure of running paths, etc). and taking with me a mindset of - 'oh...what a stressful week, i'm on vacation now, i want to enjoy and let loose a little'. I'm afraid if i don't snapt out of it and get this all in check, i'll come back with the same 5lbs i just relost again after memorial day.

Just writing all of this helps some. Thanks for any insights or things that have worked for you all. ok...better get a craack at the day so i can get it all done.

Brigit, I think the fact that you realize you are needing treats and rewards is a first start. I think the trick is finding things that support you and don't derail your well-being (financial and physical). I have found a few things I have put in place that I try to remember...a nice bubble bath, an iced-coffee, a movie out with a friend, some pre-slilced cut up fruit (I hate to spend the extra money on pre-cut fruit, but I LOVE it), etc. I think that part of this journey is realizing we use external things to deal with our emotions and if we can find positive things to nurture them, we are golden.

SDG, I am right there with you with the challenges. It is the end of the school year for my daughter, I have a lot of financial stress. along with work and other stress. Plus, to top it all off, I managed not to pay an outstanding parking ticket and my car got towed. The car is really my mother's so I need a letter from her to pick it up, but she is out of town on vacation. It means I am taking cabs to get DD (Dear Daughter) to and from school, and cabs to work. So far in 2 days, I have spent $100 that I really don't have to spare. To throw fuel on the fire, my mother helps with DD's tuition, and her check for tuition is in the car. It was supposed to be dropped off yesterday. So, I feel like a total idiot to boot. Anyway, the good news is that even though I want to PIG out, I had a decadent breakfast today, but I will balance it by skipping the anytime bar and will go on from here.

I think you need to just be nice to yourself, and do what you can while hanging out with the pals. I think bringing workout clothes is always smart. You may get a run in, you might take an extra long walk. I have found that EVERYTHING in moderation with those kinds of getaways is the way to go. I also try to bring stuff that I can eat, so a really nice crudite platter and a fruit salad or something. BBQ can be manageable, so just use your head, drink even more water than usual and remember to enjoy the company! In a month or 2, you will remember hanging with the friends not the food you ate/didn't eat.

Suz,

I feel the SAME way. I've felt that I've failed this program so many times because I haven't lost as much as I thought I would. But the more I talk about the wins I've had, the more I've seen that I've CHANGED for the better. It's not about the weight, it's about the positive mental changes too.

I maintained my weight this week so keep me at 174.7. But I've truly lost my need to overeat on sweets. I can't believe that I've been totally stressed for 3 weeks and MAINTAINED my weight. Seriously, last year, I gained 10 pounds from overeating because of stress......its amazing the mental changes that happen when you realize that food isn't the root of your problems.

I also will commit to not over-doing the goals. LOL. I'm going to make my goals REALLY easy. I will be satisfied with losses of 1/2 to 1 pound per week. If I lose 2, then that's great smile.gif

Hi!

Yesterday on my day off I got in 5 mi walking. The last 2 were with the dog in the rain, without a raincoat. So Bridgit my dog was looking at me like lets go to the car and I said if Bridgit can bike in it you can walk in it. You should have seen the look on her face, priceless. lol Then she took off running like I'll show you.

Tonight, we did a couple more. Had to stop and let about 20 midget league baseball players pet her and play ball with her. She was basking in all the attention, absolutely loves little children.

Hope everyone has had a good day and less stressful.

SDG, have a great weekend. Hope you can get some walks in, mostly to get rid of your stress. Alison is right about hopefully you'll have grilled options. Maybe wine spritzers instead of wine, then you can have more than one, but only the calories of one. Maybe take some anytime bars with you to replace things that are just pure junk. Alison is also right about not remembering the food just the visit.

Hope everyone has a great weekend, mu WI is Sunday am, talk about finding religion. I'm pretty people who do WI on Sun am could rival the people in church. lol

Thanks Alison and Nancy for the thoughts. It has been a long day and i've been keeping in mind the things i wrote and making the best choices I can when stretched thin. I bought some bars and apples to have in the car with me along with some Jenny Snacks for the trip. You're right - it will be nice to visit and not just have it be about the food!

Al - i can't believe all the chaos with your car! I'm so sorry. Sounds like you're really taking it in strides!

Nancy - great job with all your walking!! i am really missing my exercise the last few days. and i think my dog is too! smile.gif

i've got the wi's for those of you who have posted. i'm not back till monday, so i'll work on a new chart monday night. Hope you all have a wonderful weekend and I will be thinking of you all!

check in with you later!
