Hey all,

So i'm doing the diet right now, but at the end of the summer I'm leaving for college and probably going to discontinue the diet. Does anyone know how they would handle living on a college campus with all the junk? Thoughts? Suggestions?

I'm assuming that you'll have a dorm fridge, so I would keep it stocked with veggies and fruits you can snack on and make sure you have plenty of water. Take the summer to establish some good eating habits and talk to your JCC before you leave for any good suggestions. Good Luck to you!

Hi, I know it was hard for me this past year when I started back in October because it was hard for me to go out because of all the temptation. But, what I did was during my second semester I took a step aerobics class which really helped out when I couldn't get a workout at the end of the day due to studying. Also, cafeterias aren't all bad just really make sure to get your fruits and vegetables( salad bar) in. When you meet people on campus go ahead ask them if they would want to go to the gym with on campus. If you have anymore questions don't afraid to reply back.

It has been a while since I was in college....but avoid the late night runs to Taco Bell or any other fast food....that was my downfall! Enjoy college!

Hey Steph. I am in school also, so I can relate to how you're feeling. When I started the program 4 weeks ago I just began classes for my Master's, but honestly, have you ever considered staying on the program while in school? There might be a JC center nearby or you can always do the direct program. I think college is hard as it is, and it's so easy to grab a very unhealthy meal right in your school's cafeteria, so why not try to stay on JC. There's usually always a microwave around on campus for students, and you can get a fridge in your room. It wasn't easy for me, but I have been carrying my lunchbox and an ice pack in it for the past 4 weeks, but it's working.

Definitely stock up on healthy snacks if you have a fridge in your room. I also bring my lunchbox to school and leave my money in my car. In that way, I won't be tempted to buy anything that isn't on plan. And if eating at the cafeteria, just try to choose healthier entrees, and remember that 1/4 of your plate should be protein (grilled chicken); 1/4 starch (pasta or rice); and 1/2 should be filled with veggies. Good luck with that!

I just started JC two weeks ago and I go back to college on Saturday. I am very nervous for the transition. The reason I joined JC to begin with was because I gained 18 pounds my freshman year and wanted to get that off again. I'm using the program as a way to teach myself to eat healthier. I did the 20 pounds for $20 thing so I plan on staying on the diet til I reach that goal.

I'm living in the dorms for the second year in a row so I don't have a lot of storage room (seeing as three of us share my mini fridge). Recently I had a talk with my roommates and explained to them my situation. They are being very supportive and getting another freezer so that I can story the Jenny food while living on campus. And they are using me as inspiration to start eating healthier too!

When I am done with JC I'm sure it'll be a big challenge, but I am gonna maintain my weight by not keeping as many snacks in my room, lowering my dining plan, and avoiding fast food when I'm off campus.

TOGETHER WE CAN DO IT!
