Hi everyone -

I see that there has been an April and a May 30 Day Shred Challenge and I'm hoping some of you will join me for this same challenge in June.

The 30 Day Shred DVD is by Jillian Michaels and consists of 3 different level workouts that last 20 minutes (add about another 5-10 minutes for warm up and cool down time). These are great workouts - level one has been kicking my butt and I just tried level two for the first time - all I can say is "wow"

The challenge would be to do this video throughout the month of June. I would like to say there should be a set number of days per week we shoot for but I know everyone's exercise time is different so if you are in, just share how many days per week you are planning to do it.

So here is my personal goal ... I want to do this video 4 days per week minimum. I will actually shoot for 6 days but know that I get bored easily doing the same workout (even when it is kicking my butt) and may need to switch things.

Please join me! I could really use workout buddies! We can all share pictures at the end of the month of our newly shredded bodies - or maybe just stories of those shredded bodies wink.gif

I'll do the challenge with you! I've been doing the DVD for awhile now and it is great. I don't go to the gym. All I do is DVD's at home, so I do have a lot to choose from. I have to keep it interesting so I don't get bored. I think I can do the 30 day shred 3 times per week, so I don't get bored with it . Sound good?

I'm not a big fan of taking pictures now. As I'm losing weight I'll feel more comfortable with pictures....but just not yet. I would love to share stories and thoughts with you though.

Welcome Heather! I do all home workouts only too. What are your other DVDs that you do? I alternate with Tae Bo, Valerie Bertinelli's video and this Shred workout but am always looking for something new. Tae Bo has been a struggle for me because when they go into double time mode I can't keep up while keeping decent form.

As for the pictures ... I avoid cameras so am right there with you on sharing stories instead of pictures. BUT, let's see if we are willing to surprise ourselves at the end of the month. I really am hoping if I get in shape my "picture confidence" will improve. It's possible I will take a picture of myself and just describe it instead of posting it wink.gif

Kari,

Tae Bo is the other workout I do too! What a coincidence! I love those DVD's because they are very challenging. It isn't until fairly recently that I discovered Jillian's DVD's. I wish she had more! The other workouts I do are from the P90X series. Those are crazy tough, but I do my best. Those are the main ones I do. I might have some other DVD's laying around that I will have to dig out.

What days do you usually workout?

I'm with you on the picture idea! laugh.gif

This should be fun!

Heather

Well, it is June 1st and I am starting the June 30 day shred challenge. I did level 1 today. Those tricep exercises in the first strength circuit are killer! But it was a good workout and I feel good. I don't get as sweaty in level 1 as I do in the other levels. I know, gross. But when I sweat a lot, I feel better.

How are you Kari? Did you start yet? Keep me updated!!

FYI--I'm watching Jillian's new show right now, and I am almost in tears. So sad :-(

Heather -

I watched Jillian's new show too. I thought it was sad too to hear how deeply their weight issues have affected them. That being said, I was really grateful that she wasn't at my doorstep after seeing how hard they were pushed! Great results but WOW

I've done the video 3 times so far this week (including this morning). I'm hoping to do it tomorrow and Sunday too but Sunday may end up being something different.

I'm with you that level one doesn't make me feel like I've worked as hard as level 2 does. I haven't made it to level 3 yet. This week I've just done level 2. I'm planning to watch level 3 this weekend (it helps me to know what to expect the first time) and then do one day of level 3 next week. How much worse is it - on a sweat level of one to ten smile.gif

Keep me posted on how you are doing!

Morning -

Well I got another Shred video in yesterday taking me to 4 this week. I have to say though, after 4 days in a row my shoulders are feeling it! It's great to know my body is working and changing so I actually like when my muscles are a bit sore. Nothing crazy, just where I notice them when I move certain ways. I worked with a trainer years (and years) ago and the 2nd day after my first session I woke up, did that wonderful full body stretch while still laying in bed and every muscle from my neck down cramped. The only way I could sit down was to lower myself with my arms (only thing not worked at the first session). I'm NOT looking for that kind of sore muscle feeling again smile.gif

I watched level 3 yesterday. Wow. I'm going to shoot to do it by the end of next week. I guess that is my mini-challenge for myself this week. I would normally say I'm going to "try" to do level 3 but after watching Jillian's new show I know what she thinks of people saying "try" (something about it being a setup for failure).

No Jillian today or any other DVDs for that matter. Lawn mowing day instead. I have a horrible hill in my yard where the builders 30 years ago left all the dirt from digging out basements in my house and those right around me. Steep and uneven. It takes me an hour just to do the hill. After an hour of up and down that crazy hill I always feel like I got my workout in for the day smile.gif On the plus side, by the time the lawn is mowed it should be getting warm so I can get the Slip and Slide set up on the hill for the kids. They love it and just fly with it on the hill instead of flat ground! As much as I hate the hill on mowing day, it is a great source of entertainment for the kids

Take care Heather and please check in when you can

Hi Ladies!

I've gotten through the DVD 4 times this week and am planning to do it again tomorrow morning. My kids and I are leaving tomorrow, driving to Dallas for a few weeks for my job. A workout before loading two 5 year olds and 2 dogs for 7 hrs driving each day is definitely a NEED! We'll be staying at a hotel with a pool tomorrow night so will also be getting some activity in once we stop for the night. At this point I don't think I'll get any exercise in on Sunday with the exception of unloading the van, unpacking and getting the apartment set up. I'll be back on track Monday morning though.

In addition to the Shred DVD, I also got TaeBo twice and just bought the Biggest Loser Cardio Max video so did that once. Good video but kind of hard to follow with "real people" doing the exercises ... they were off on timing and sometimes going in different directions which made it a challenge to figure out what I was supposed to be doing. Now that I've gotten through it once it will be easier to follow next time. I'm definitely not up to P90X levels but am doing my best smile.gif

Let me know how you all are doing!

Hi all,

I have been on Jenny Craig since April 5, and am proud to say I am now down 16.5 pounds. This is even after struggling with staying focused for about a month (cheating, like, everyday), due to some personal issues. I am now re-focused, and want to look my very best for my first sons wedding coming up the end of July. My goal is to have lost a total of 30 pounds by then, and if I can stay on track, and continue my P90 workouts everyday, I think it can be done! I had ordered the P90X, but it was just too extreme for me at this point, so ordered the recommended P90. So far, so good! It's enough of a challenge to keep me motivated, and am hoping to do the P90X after the initial P90 run (90 days).
Wish me luck! smile.gif
