A new month is starting. I hope others are interested in joining me for another Shred Challenge.
For those who don't know- 30 Day Shred is a workout video by Jillian Michaels. It includes workouts at 3 levels which are 20 minutes long, and incorporate strength, cardio and abs. They are fast moving and fun.
You can get the dvd on amazon for under 10 dollars, or you may be able to get it on demand from your cable company (verizon has level one for free).
I did it daily in April (except a couple of days when I was away) and have seen a big benefit.

I hope others will join me again this month.

-Isabelle

Good luck everyone!

I just bought the 30 Day Shred for my JCC yesterday. Her birthday is tomorrow and she mentioned that she'd like to start it. I'm working another program now, but I know those jumping jacks will kick your butt!

Good morning Heidi, Marion, Jill, Edorice and all other shredders. It is May 1st! I hope everyone got in their work out today. Whether you are trying for every day, or a few days a week, it is a great workout. I am currently alternating level 3 with level 1, as my knees objected too strongly to level 3 every day. Do whatever works for you. Just do it! Have a great weekend.

I just checked my On Demand (Comcast) and it has Level 1 for free but says it ends May 3. I wonder if it really does? Anyway, I will try it tomorrow (I'm too tired from Furry Scurry charity fundraiser this morning to do it today - I'm actually quite embarrassed that a 3 mile walk with my dog would make me so tired, but I guess that's why I'm here). So let me give Level 1 a try tomorrow and check it out. I just now started watching it and there was no intro - she just started right into warmups. What equipment should I have in front of me? Anything else I need to know?

Pam: All you need is handweights (I use 3 pounds) and a mat is nice to have. Have fun.

My goal is 21 times this month - 5 times a week

3 so far

I am fining level 2 WAY more of a challenge than 1. The hardest portion being set 2 where in level 1 I found set 1 the hardest.
Mind you in leve 1 I did push ups on my knees so with level being plank mania I find it difficult.
And many of the moves require more coordination than i have wink.gif

I am so glad that I am doing this challenge with you guys. I have had such low energy all week. I have been putting in extra time at work, but I think the real issue is family stressors. I don't feel like doing ANY exercise. But, I started this challenge, I am determined to stick with it. So each day no matter what my energy level, I get through those 27 minutes of Jillian Michaels. So I can advance my ticker. So I can take a step toward a better me. I am always glad I did. Today I even went for a 3 mile walk with dh after.
THanks for doing this with me.
Is.

Hi all,
I am in my third week with JC. I bought several Jillian Michaels DVDs a few months ago (they were still in their wrapper). I saw this thread and decided to jump in and join you all. I started today with level 1. She kicked my butt. I am going to try and do this every day, who knows, I might eventually move up to level 2.

So I got my DVD on Saturday and haven't yet been able to motivate myself to do it....

I know, I just need to try it and maybe then I will be hooked. That hard thing is trying to decide what time of day I want to do it. My days are pretty packed between 2 jobs and a BF.

So as I sit and type this, I have decided I am doing it tonight and will comment tomorrow!!!

One nice thing is that it doesn't take very long to do the workout. Let us know what you think!

I had a bit of a setback. Unfortunately, Level 2 is so focused on upper back/body that I re-injured my back (car accident from about 15 years ago). Thankfully 1 adjustment at the chiropractor and I'm feeling better...I'm just a little more hesitant to start back up again. I may go back to Level 1 today and then try Level 2 again over the weekend and try to ease myself back into it.

On the plus side...I actually lost 2 pounds today at my weigh in. I was sure I'd not have lost anything with Mother's Day brunch and not working out for about 5 days. So that was a pleasant surprise! cool.gif

Oregon: Congratulations on your weight loss. Sorry to hear about your back. I'm glad you are doing better now. Just be careful with restarting the workout. Take care of that back!

I just completed by third day in a row of level 1. Not any easier yet, but I am keeping up a little better. My goal is every day.... it is only 20 minutes... right?!!!

I do recommend a day off here and there for muscle repair, espically when just starting it.

I have found level 2 to be considerly tougher than 1, I fear 3 wink.gif
Now if I have had to miss more than 2 days I do level 1 to ease myself back into it. Or I do 1 if I've done a lot of other work, like today where I did a 5 km walk then an hour later a 10 k (my dog is STILL sleeping that off, poor thing - but it's muggy today and she's half malamute, so not made for warm muggy weather)
