I am so happy I ran across this board that I teared up. I was only in the "new members" board and everyone that I saw like had 50lbs to lose at the most, i started to feel like I was the only person this big that was on Jenny. I am still on my first week and have my first weigh in tomorrow. I'm only 20 and weigh over 300lbs and my joints hurt, and i get winded just walking, it's terrible. I just want my life back. I want to be "normal". I deserve to be at a normal weight and I am so glad that I found you guys. Its going to be a longer journey for us and I am so happy not to be alone. Good Luck to everyone and I will tell you guys my first weigh in results. Fyi, I hope its good because I have been walking everyday (only 15 mins) and I went to the gym 3 times this week and worked out for 30 mins each time!!!! That was a HUGE step for me, even with everyone staring at the "fat girl" in the gym, I was proud of myself. Talk to you guys soon.

Welcome to Jenny!!! There are so many people here with different amounts to lose - and a forum for everyone. Feel free to go around to all of the different forums - there are so many things to learn from each one. People are always willing to listen, offer advise and give you a "swift kick in the backside" whenever you need one! biggrin.gif Walking for 15 minutes is a great start, as well as getting yourself to the gym. Don't pay any attention to the people who look at you (I know - easier said than done sometimes) - I never understood it - why be surprised there is someone at the gym trying to lose weight? blink.gif Isn't that what it's there for and then to help you maintain later? Crazy! tongue.gif

Keep us all posted on how you're doing and on how your WI goes. Good luck!

Every step forward, no matter how small, is a step in the right direction.

Good for you. Keep plugging along and keep working on you time with walking. I know that you may feel uncomfortable at the gym, but you need to be doing this for yourself and your future.

Way to go girl! I am so proud of you for taking this step. I know how you feel about the gym. I have about 17# to lose and sometimes I hate going to the gym because I think people are looking at me. They aren't! We are all there to get fit and try our best. Just plug in your I-pod and go for it. wink.gif Keep us posted and keep coming back.
Good Luck!

Welcome to JC. I'm glad you found a place you can come to with others in a similar position. I was so excited to see a 200+ forum too when I started!. You are off to a great start with the exercising you're getting in already. I think JC is an outlet to start getting your life back. I think with patience and dedication, you'll definitely get to the "normal" weight.

It helps me to not focus on the complete total pounds I need to lose and just set small goals that you think you can accomplish. My next goal is to lose another 15 pounds. That will be here before you know it. Then I feel good about myself and it re-motivates me to keep going for the next 15 or 20. You can do this! Good luck on your journey and let us know about your progress.

Start weight on 1/8/10: 438.2 lbs
Current weight: 317.8 lbs
Total weight loss: 120.4 lb
Ultimate goal weight: 150 lbs

Ultimate Goal -

Never say ONLY. If you can walk 15 minutes, 2 minutes, 8 minutes, that is wonderful! It all adds up. If people are staring at you, that is their demon they need to work out. F them! It pains me that you have to go through that. But do NOT let that discourage you. You are doing this for you. smile.gif And I know you will reach your goal. One day at a time, one hour at a time. You will!

We are here for you. Please reach out if you need us. smile.gif

I'm rootin for you!

Good luck to you and you should be SO PROUD of yourself for taking the steps to be healthy and feel better - I agree with everyone - these boards are a wonderful tool to help when you need advice, want to share joy or share a frustration, etc. It's such a wonderful way to get the support you need no matter where you are in your journey.

Best of luck for you!!!

You are on the right path. Don't worry about what numbers you are seeing from other people. I only committed to losing 20 pounds because I started to feel depressed and overwhelmed at the thought of 30 and felt no motivation at the idea of 10. To be in my ideal weight range, I think I need to lose 120. To lose what I think would look great on me (based on the past), it is between 90 and 100 pounds. So, people may only be showing a smaller number and may need to lose more.

Remember every 5 pounds is major and better for you and your overall health.

Good luck on your journey!!

Congratulations on taking the first step! I know when I started I was really overwhelmed at committting myself to a weight lose plan because I was scared I wouldn't be able to do it. But, you take one day at a time, one lb at a time & one situation at a time. I agree w/ small goals so you feel the accomplishment & it motivates you to keep going. I need to lose a total of 100lbs & I'm now down 40 which is a very big deal for me.. I haven't been able to stick to anything in the last few years. I focus on what I've lost & not how much more because again its overwhelming to me..Baby steps & remember you will have the last laugh when you cross the finish line! When you go to the gym you think I'm doing this for me, I'm breaking out of this prison of fat that has made me miserable! Feel the fire , keep walking forward & please return for support! Support is really one of the cornstones to sticking to plan because we're all going through the same rollor coaster of emotions. Its definatley a new frontier--feeling your emotions & not stuffing them! Welcome & all the best..This journey is what you make of it! I look forward to hearing about your progress.. congratulations on taking the first step to a healthier life!
