When you guys...well gals actually, lol.. are in that TOM do you find that you gain right before your cycle or during?

I have put on a couple of lbs and I'm still a couple of days before my cycle even starts. I just want to know if this is normal cuz I'm freakin' out over the 2 lbs gained and hope its just water weight:/

I usually gain the end of the week prior and hold it until after the first two TOM days. angry.gif My appetite is voracious that previous week as well. I have to practically wire my mouth shut just to control it. Then, when TOM finally comes, my appetite returns to normal.

Just drink extra water and increase your activity a bit. smile.gif

Absolutely!! It could be as much as 5 pounds. I think though that eating JC it won't be that much, because we aren't eating all that junk food with lots of salt.

That's part of the reason they tell us not to get on the scale. The water weight can fluctuate a lot. (I get on the scale daily wacko.gif )

I'm very much like you where I find that I'll gain a couple of pounds maybe a couple of days before I begin my period and it sort of stays with me until my period is over. Its sooo annoying. I remember the first time it happened and I was so excited to get on the scale because I had been pushing myself, working out, eating right and doing well and I step on the scale only to see that I had gained 2 pounds. I literally almost said to heck with it and fell off the wagon. But my mom suggested maybe it was my TOM, which I didn't even think of and low and behold, it was. So I try really hard to just remind myself that its not my true weight and to just keep with it and keep on pushing even though the scale is not showing how hard I've worked. The fun part about it is that literally on my last day when I step on the scale, I've lost more weight than I normally would because I've dropped all of the water weight as well. Being a woman is lovely, isn't it? Haha

[Great topic girls,

I was very happy to read about this issue. I was on week 5 last week, stuck with the plan and worked out extra hard, only to see that I had gained .2 pounds. I was soooo disappointed, especially after all the extra working out. I will really be interested to see what my next weigh in is. I am about to have my TOM, so that has got to be what it was (I keep telling myself). But it reallly is frustrating. If I had cheated, or been lazy, then ok, maybe I could deal with a small gain. But, when you work so hard, only to GAIN- well it just really hurts my MOJO.

But, I am keeping the fingers crossed thatI will have a bigger loss this next weigh in.
I keep telling myself that this is a PROCESS- you keep on keeping on even if you have little TOM setbacks.
That's the problem with being a) impatient and cool.gif a perfectionist.

But, I will NOT give up, no matter what that darn scale said last week.!!!! mellow.gif

I too am having some annoyance with my TOM. I gained 1.4 pounds last week, which was like 5 days before my TOM, so I was really annoyed and upset. But like everyone else, I stuck with it. I weigh in today, so I'm praying that the scale goes down. Especially since the 1.4 was the exact number that I had lost the week before. So I'm hoping to break even. We'll see. If not, I'm going to shoot someone, because I've been following the plan exactly this week. So wish me luck!

My consultant told me to make a very hot cup of water and squeeze fresh lemon in it (not the concentrated stuff). Eliminates the excessive water weight. She said up to 2 lbs.

Not sure I believe it, but maybe I will try it tonight since I am PMSing and have WI tomorrow morning

Oh, yeah gals, I hear ya!!!!! One thing I try to never do is weigh myself within a few days of that TOM!!! Yes, it is water and yes, it will pass, literally!!!!! It's called, "The Curse", for a reason! It's that time we all need to cut salt, yet crave it! Yes, Ashbo, being a woman is lovely. Wish my husband could be a woman for a month. LOL! BH

I start gaining about 4 days before I start and I gain a solid 3-4 pounds each time, but once I start, it's gone almost immediately. Don't worry, it's just water weight and you will lose it in no time!

I'm a bit different (understatement of the decade smile.gif). My hormones go wacky right at mid-month. It's easy to tell, because two weeks into my birth control pills for the month, I'll all the sudden get swollen ankles, hands, and face. If you look at my weigh ins in my signature, you'll see I went up 2 lbs (for absolutely no other reason) a couple of weeks back. This week is my TOM, and at my weigh in this morning I was down 3.1 lbs. So I don't sweat it. I know exactly what to attribute it to, which is comforting!

By the way, have you notice how much your weight fluctuates in one day? Melissa, if you get on the scale more than once a day, how much difference do you see between first thing in the morning and at the end of the day? I can be 2 or more pounds up by the end of the day. That's why my JC weigh-in is first thing in the morning! smile.gif

Oh absolutely! I have been 2 maybe 3 up in the evening. My WI's are in the afternoon usually, but I tell my jcc my weight that morning by my scale at home, she records that one. NoWAY was I going to let her record my afternoon weight...lol.

I am the same way Melissa. I gain 2 - 3 lbs before TOM, but I purposely started JC the week before it started. I can also se 2 - 3 lbs in the course of a day. I know that when I get weighed in, I will be about 2 lbs heavier then my morning weigh in.
