My sister started Jenny Craig and said, "I only lost 1.5 pounds this week. I was hoping for more." I told her to look at the bigger picture. Let's say she happened to lose 1 pound every week for 1 year. That is 52 pounds gone! Let's say she averaged 2 pounds every week. That's 104 pounds gone!!! Let's face it, none of us in this section of the forum gained all of our weight in less than a year. We can't expect to lose it overnight. When you look at it over a month or a year at a time, you will see how those 1 or 2 pounds will add up to double and triple digits.
I am still trying to remember patience and remember regardless of what the scale says, I am living a healthier life. In the end, the scale will show me what I want to see. Just keep going!

As a new member, the first place I went on this forum was to the 200+ section. I needed to know that there was someone out there in my situation that actually did well. I didn't want to keep seeing people who needed to lose 20 pounds talk about their weight loss struggle (although any weight loss is never easy). It's just a completely different approach when you have hundreds of pounds to lose and feel you are alone.
I felt so proud and in awe of the people I saw who were losing large amounts of weight. It allowed me to feel encouraged when I wanted to give up or felt overwhelmed by all the weight I needed to lose. 8 1/2 months later and 104 pounds down, I still have a long journey ahead. But now I understand I have made a lifestyle change and I KNOW I will lose the weight I need to lose. I have so much more confidence in myself than I have in a very long time. Most of all, I am loving myself more and have realized I am worth it. We are all worth it and deserve another chance to be happy and healthy even if we stumble a few times along the way.
So if anyone happens to read this... Don't give up on yourself. If you keep going and remain patient, you will eventually reach your goal and your desires. Good luck with your journey.

Lolafrancaise, I am glad that my story can offer any inspiration to another person. I hope that you are doing well with your losses on JC so far and you can find support on the forums whenever you need them.

Thanks Rocky. Looking at your progress, you are 'rocking' (rocky-ing) it!

Lately my weight loss has been slow. There has been some family tragedies and mixed with my busy schedule, it was just a bit more challenging to lose. I really want to get back to losing bigger numbers. I'm going to try to increase my activity and drink lots of water. Hopefully this will be the boost I need. I really hope everyone else is doing well with their losses. This section of the forum has been awfully quiet so I don't know if anyone else is out there even reading this lol.

Just thought I post an update since I haven't been on this forum for a while.
My JCC Lauren left last week after 22 months together with JC to pursue her career as a care aid since she was going to school part time while at JC. It is not the same w/o her right now and I have found a new JCC named Carmen starting next week (saw Kerrie tonight and she recommended me to see her do that I can keep my WI time as close as it was before) that I will now on Thursdays be seeing at 5:15pm since they no longer have 5:10 WI times.
I had measurements and WI on Thursday Dec 2. I gained 1.8lbs this week (not sure what caused this-TOM is close perhaps?)... Really frustrating for me after I worked really hard this week. But it could be muscle gain too because on the leg machine at the gym I go to, I can press 180lbs or so and the spin classes that I do 2-3 times a week with one of them incorporating weight training with 5lbs hand weights)
On a good note though, I lost everywhere this month (even my stubborn abdomen area) a total of 4.25 inches this month, bringing my total to in 23 months 96.5 inches lost. I posted a new photo that JC took in October. You can view it and my other JC photos in my signature below.
I also got asked to enter the Starfish story contest I found out about from my centre director. I am thinking of doing it. Should I go for it? I don't think I will win with my story, but it gives me an opportunity to share this with others.
I tried the new JC Ginger Bell cookies this week (got 2 packs in case). They are so good! I am going to call my centre to put another container on hold for me for my Thursday consultation. I hope this week for me will be a loss next week as I am worried that what happened 3 weeks back with my weight is happening again.
Have a great week everyone.
Julianna

Thoughts to Keep in Mind:
Change is the essence of life.
Be willing to surrender what you are.....for what you could become.

It takes longer to lose weight than to gain.
A little weight loss is as great as big loss.
There may be weeks your weight may go up a little bit,
but don't get discouraged because even though your weight may be up
one week, you may still be losing inches and gaining muscle.
Your weight is only a number. The changes you see overall physically and
mentally are the things that truly matter the most. Don't get fixated on
your weight number. In other words, your weight isn't the only measure of your success. Put away the scale and you may just see how far you've
really come.
Keep in mind that each week is different.
Don't stop & stick with it.
"You deserve your fullest life back. You deserve to be able to breathe deeply.
You deserve to be able to walk as far and as fast as you want to walk —
and to run if you wish. You deserve to be able to buy clothing from any
store you walk into. You deserve quality foods to serve yourself — fresh,
filled with flavors and nutrients and textures and color. You deserve to be
proud of who you are — to revel in your strength of mind, body and
character. You deserve to walk the streets and beaches feeling eyes
on you and knowing you look strong and healthy. You are doing something
that many, many people believe they cannot do or flat-out will not do.
I will repeat that….
You're doing something that many, many people believe
they cannot or flat-out will not do. " - Jason Alexander

Julianna, you have done so well so far. You look like a completely different person now from when you started! You should be proud of that. I think so many people would be inspired by you and I definitely think you should write about your story for your centre's contest.
You are getting close to your goal so weight loss is going to be a lot harder from when you started. There will be weeks that you will gain or not lose much, but you have to brush that aside and keep going. If you keep doing what you are supposed to do (stay on plan, exercise, drink lots of water), then the scale will follow. Good luck with your next WI and celebrate the good things that have happened (losing well over 100 pounds and 96.5 inches!). You got this!

I set a challenge goal very early on when I started Jenny Craig and try to be under 300 pounds by New Years. Well, I did not make that goal at that particular deadline, but I know I will make it. I said goodbye to the 400's and ready to say adios to the 300's. I understand more now that this is not a race, it's a lifestyle change. I will have great weeks and some weeks I may mess up, but in the end I know what my goal is and dust myself right back off if I need to.
I am leaving for vacation for a little while and won't be weighting in during that time. I am hoping it will be a successful trip with healthy eating as well, but I already know there will be MANY challenges. Good luck to everyone and hope things have been great during your holiday season.
