My New 10 Month Challenge
#1

This may sound like a bit of a stretch, but I want to set a goal for myself to lose another 105 pounds by January 2011. Why 105 pounds? Because that would put me at 299 pounds. That means I would have to lose a total of 139 pounds in 1 year. I want to break some barriers. I have not been under 300 pounds since my pre-teens. I am so close to saying goodbye to the 400's and nothing more would make me happier than to say goodbye to the 300's.
So now I am going to put up a new ticker. I may fail or I may succeed. Either way I am on a path to become healthier which in my eyes is always a success. If anyone has similar goals of being a certain weight by 2011, please feel free to share.

Dear RL - Oh, I am so happy for your huge losses and for settings a goal for yourself! I will join you and while I won't be able to lose anywhere near what you can ... my goal is to lose 8 lbs a month so I can join you for that as my target!

Rocky,
I have all the confidence in the world in you that you will reach the goal you have set! Remember to take it one step at a time and stay positive even through the tough moments. KEEP FOCUSING ON THE POSITIVE!
I am working on a new project for myself and something that I can share to other JC members if they want. I am making a word document that has some examples of free foods, limited free foods, starches, fruits, milks, meats and fats that JC clients can incorporate for things such add ons if needed with JC meals, or can be incorporated in Halfway menus or maintainence. What do you think? Should I share this with other members? I am definitely going to give a copy of it to my JC Consultant Lauren when I see her on Friday so that she can show this to other clients to who need help or ideas.
Take care!

It takes longer to lose weight than to gain.
A little weight loss is as great as big loss.
There may be weeks your weight may go up a little bit,
but don't get discouraged because even though your weight may be up
one week, you may still be losing inches and gaining muscle.
Your weight is only a number. The changes you see overall physically and
mentally are the things that truly matter the most. Don't get fixated on
your weight number. In other words, your weight isn't the only measure of your success. Put away the scale and you may just see how far you've
really come.
Keep in mind that each week is different.
Don't stop & stick with it.
"You deserve your fullest life back. You deserve to be able to breathe deeply.
You deserve to be able to walk as far and as fast as you want to walk —
and to run if you wish. You deserve to be able to buy clothing from any
store you walk into. You deserve quality foods to serve yourself — fresh,
filled with flavors and nutrients and textures and color. You deserve to be
proud of who you are — to revel in your strength of mind, body and
character. You deserve to walk the streets and beaches feeling eyes
on you and knowing you look strong and healthy. You are doing something
that many, many people believe they cannot do or flat-out will not do.

Julianna, thanks for the motivating words. I would love to see that document you're working on. I have been trying to find more creative ways to incorporate free foods into my meals. I haven't even begun to think about Halfway and Maintenance yet, hahaha. But it would be nice to see what it will be like ahead of time. I'm sure there are several people who can benefit from seeing that as well.

Hi Rocky,
The document that I am making has examples of regular foods that can be used for add-ons, volumizing, etc. If you would like me to e-mail this to you, send me a private message with your e-mail address and I will pass it on to you to take a look with.

Suzanne, you know you have been so helpful with keeping me motivated and on track. Your accomplishments are so amazing to me and pushes me to not make excuses and just keep going! Thank you again for that.
Julianna, I wish I knew more about the exchanges to give you more information. I'm still pretty new to Jenny and haven't reached that point yet. What I can tell you is call 1(800)JennyCare (available 24 hrs a day, 7 days a week) if you are not certain about something. I just called the other night because I didn't know what quantity of grapes equaled 1 fruit (It's 3/4 cup if anyone was curious). They answered within minutes. There is also a special forum called "Ask the Dietitian" where you can ask about whichever food exchanges you are interested in. I'm not sure how quickly they respond, but you can ask a bunch of questions in advance so you can have the answers already. I don't know if any of this helps since you might already have all this info, but just in case. Don't give up! You have done so well so far. Just like anything you do for the first time, you're not a pro right away. It just takes practice before it'll be automatic. You will have it down in no time and will be teaching all of us when we get there too. You can do it!
On a side note, I also noticed you put the example of regular foods you can eat as a new topic. Is this the same as your document or should I still send you my email?
Everyone, there is 3 more days until my first weight-in for the 10 month challenge. It feels like it's taking FOREVER! I feel like a little kid wanting to go to Disneyland. Who would have thought getting on the scale would be compared to Disneyland, hahahaha. Oh well. Good luck everyone on the weight loss journey this week.

Hi Rocky,
Thanks for the encouragement. I went to my weigh in at my JC Centre today I was a bit nervous and thought that I may have gone up a bit this week since I am very close to my TOM. I am happy to say, that I dropped .2 lbs this week. Even though the loss was smaller than last week, my weight losses are staying at the 1-2 lbs/week area and it is still a loss!
As for the examples of regular foods file, yes, that is the same as the document that I have as a MS Word Document. If you would like it e-mailed to you, let me know and I will pass it on to you. Some people have looked at it, but not many. I will see how the response with it is in the next few days and decide whether to keep the posting up or remove it.

I love your spirit & shear determination!:) Yes, I think it is DEFINATELY POSSIBLE!! Smaller goal per month when you break it down is not as overwhelming..You could totally do it .. You have the right attitude to accomplish this!! & you are doing FANTASTIC so far..WOW!! :)You should be so proud of yourself .. Its amazing what one can accomplish when you make up your mind...Lets face it its all mental determination..So, I'M IN! My goal is to hit my goal of 100lbs by the end of the year as well.. I've lost 12lbs in 5 weeks so far.. That being said 88lbs by end of the year..Trying to add a ticker but don't know how to attach to posts??
Please keep me posted.. If you don't mind I'm going to add you as a friend because I feel I'm determined & I want other people to check in w/ that are as well..

Suzanne, it's crazy but it seems like this weigh-in is not coming fast enough, hahaha. I was tempted to drop by a couple days early to Jenny Craig just to weigh myself. I am so excited and plan to continue my excitement until I have reached my goal. I'm glad you are just as excited as me, hahaha. I am excited to see how your month has gone too!
Katie, thanks for believing in me. I am so happy to see you join in on losing 100 pounds by the new year! It keeps me even more motivated to know others are joining with me for the same cause. I'm happy you added me as a friend and I will add you as well. You're right, having mental determination will play a huge factor in your success. Look at Suzanne and Julianna for example, and several others who have lost 100+ pounds. Not everyone does that unless they are determined to lose the weight. By the new year the two of us could also be in that category. We can do this! Also, congrats on the weight loss so far, and good luck with the many more you will lose in the near future.
I will be sure to keep everyone posted after my weigh-in tomorrow afternoon. Happy weigh-in everyone!!

Hi Rocky!
Well Done! I am so proud of your acheivement not only this week, but the heart and determination you have put in so far in your journey! As said in the song "I Believe" by Nikki Yanofsky, "I believe the time is right now, stand tall and make the world proud"; in other words, the time is right now for you to pursue this and to make those close to you proud. If you have time to hear the full song on Youtube, I would recommend it as it refreshed my motivation in what I am doing. Here is the link for it on Youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-AEX0WRZzfI
Keep on going and make yourself and all of us proud!

Just wanted to update all of you regarding my weigh in today. I went down 3.4lbs this week after last week only losing 0.2lbs considering that I am currently going through my TOM.
Also, it was measurments today as well since 4 weeks have already past. I am proud to say that I have dropped another 3.5 inches this month and have now lost a total of 69 inches since being on the JC program for 14 months as of March 8!
I have seen this happen to me before already about 7-8+ times throughout my JC journey where I have had large losses during my TOM and gaining a little back after its over and I have a feeling that I may go up a bit next week since my body most of the time does that to regulate back to normal after my TOM.
If I do gain a bit next week, I will already know why I did and its because of how my body gets back to normal after something like my TOM while I'm consistantly staying on the program. If I don't, be happy and keep on going one step at a time.
We will see what next week brings for me (hopefully a small loss, not a small weight gain), but I can't control those things my body does. It will do what it needs to do. I have a lot to be proud of, especially with all the inches and pounds I have lost so far and the wonderful people here I talk to on the forum for support. Thanks everyone!
Take care!
Julianna

After March is over, I want to step things up another notch. I think I am capable of doing more than I am now and in April my schedule is going to lighten up a bit more (thank goodness). Hearing how well everyone is doing makes me so happy. Hearing people strive past obstacles to reach their goal and move forward... How can I not be more inspired by that. Keep it up!

Rocky Loss, (you always know when they use both your first and middle names you got trouble ::laugh) if you don't quit kicking the back of the seat, asking "are we there yet" ... I'm gonna pull this diet journey over young lady and put you on Nutri-Systems for your 'time-out' and you just try me Missy, i'll do it!
Sunday will be here in less than 24 hours - you can WI and ride the scale as many times as you wish!
Seriously, as one person to another attempting to climb the Mount Everest's of weight loss, the thrill of seeing ones numbers add up while your weight goes down is something I think that only others who have 100 - 200+ to lose can fully relate to ... to this day, I still am just a frightened, very large person who is scared I won't be able to make it. I know I can make halfway the question is "can I do it all over again and lose yet another 134 pounds?" Guess until my numbers are more like Julianna's I won't actually BELIEVE I can do this.
