Hi I am Donna and I am newly 50 just two weeks ago and new to JC just a few days ago. I have been doing well staying with the program enjoying the foods although the portion sizes take some getting used to. I have my first weigh in this friday. I look forward to having the support of fellow JC followers to help keep me on track.

Hi I am also new and in my late 50's. Have been on 3 weeks.. struggled some but have lost 4 pounds. The portion sizes are hard to get used to, but the salads definietely help. Having a tough time getting started on excercise ..

I don't see many current posts for the 50 group...maybe I could generate some activity. I go in for my first meeting with my JCC....get my food for my first week, etc. I'm excited...I'm nervous...I'm hopeful. I would love for this to be the last time I go through this weight loss process but, well, I'm 50 something and haven't nailed it yet.

I would love to hear some encouraging words from this group....to hear some encouraging victories you have had.

Welcome 2B.. I started jc on March 2nd, for the second time. I lost about 25# on jc 2 years ago, but then went back to bad habits. So, I am back again, and ready to do it right. It was interesting to hear the medical report, that middle aged women need to exercise an hour a day to maintain a healthy weight. THAT is what I need to work on this time around. I hope we can support each other in this effort.

I just turned 50 and JC was my present to myself! I am just starting my second week, and though I have just lost two pounds, I am very excited that my eating habits are improving! I love the JC forums! So many upbeat and supportive people!

Hi There,
I started 5 weeks ago and am struggling ...I am 54 and menopausal with a low thyroid and fybromyalgia. I want sooooo badly to lose at least 50 lbs so I can feel and look better. The last time I lost weight was 1996. I lost 30 lbs on the Cabbage soup diet. That is a diet you can only do once!!! Its just nasty eating cabbage soup all day for 3 months! blink.gif I need support and encouragement as I have only lost 6 lbs, I guess I just feel I should have lost a lot more by now.....

I don't mind 50 so far! Songbird, I have thyroid problems also. Synthroid makes me more energetic, but it also makes me ornery!!!! Any advise? BH
