Valarie, I just want to say thank you for being my inspiration!! I'm in my early 40s and grew up watching you on One Day at A Time and all your TV movies. Then after a couple years of watching your Jenny Craig commercials, and then reading your first book "Losing It"and feeling EXACTLY like you in my attitude towards food (am also an emotional eater), I finally decided to take you up on your challenge of "Have you called Jenny yet". Well, I did call Jenny in early August 2009 and am able to say today that I have hit my goal of losing 40 lbs, just like you and started out 2010 as a much healthier, happier, and slimmer me - the me I knew I had learking somewhere inside me amoung all the prior doubts, insecurities, and critcal person I was. I'm now in maintanance and prepared myself for it by jotting down all your great inspriration and tips from your book "Finding it". I'm now finding the ME I was always meant to be. You made the road a little easier for me with all your inspiring blogs and commercials. You are right when you say that taking the weight off somewhat feels like the easy part - making the perminent changes to the way we think, feel, and act on our doubts and insecurities about ourselves and our constant working relationship with food is going to be the bigger challange. With you as the constant reminder of what we can do when we set our mind to it, I know I can overcome the doubts and challenges that may come along. I've finally learned how to deal with my emotions other than by eating and looking forward to every new day. You are truly an inspiration to all us Jenny clients, but I especially thank you for being mine. Without even knowing who I am, you helped me become the slimmer, healthier me and I truly appreicate it. Thank you.

[You are so right! It takes a lot of courage for a celebrity to put themselves out there as Valerie did--in a world that often defines success as thin, and where Hollywood is the worst, to call public attention to the fact, to do the program in front of the world and risk failure and increase public interest in that very private thing--your weight--and then to open all of your locked doors and let people in--sharing how you came to a certain point and how you managed some very personal trials and tribulations and risking not always looking your best both in pictures and print by being honest about thoughts and feelings, Valerie took the risks that can really help other people. Congratulations to Valerie and to you for making the first step. I stepped on the scale at 180 and got to 144 with a goal of 124 but lost my way and now back on the horse at 154.6 and I'm not quitting until my arms don't jiggle this time!]

Valerie,
I just want to say thank you for being my inspiration for wanting to join jenny craig. I'm in my late 30's and have a two year old daughter. I want to be healthy and teach her the good from the bad. Just watching you on your commericals makes me feel that if you can do it then so can I.
I will be joining jenny craig for the first time on Monday July 18, 2011. Thank you so much Valerie.
