I have noticed the Triple Chocolate Cheesecake and the Cookies and Cream Cheesecake are not vegetarian options. Does anyone know why?

It all depends on your interpretation of vegetarian and why you're doing it. Yes, they contain animal products, so not vegetarian. It depends on how far you want to take your decision. I was raised vegetarian, so am accutely aware that Oreo's contain lard while Hydrox sandwich cookies do not... it was difficult to be different as a child!

I asked at the center and they claim it is vegetarian. I'm still leery. I'm guessing you are right, that there is gelatin. I think I'll stay away.

FYI...the current US version of Oreos not only don't contain lard, they're vegan.
The formula changes every once in a while, so don't just take my word for it.

I work for the company and am a vegetarian too. It used to be on the menu planner with a vegetarian icon until around two years ago corporate realized they made a mistake. An unfortunate mistake for us!

Sorry that they don't work for you on your plan - BOO

On an aside... I totally expected to open this post and find a tongue in cheek comment about eating cheesecake in place of carrots. I would totally be up for that, by the way!
Back for the final time... Going to try for a thinner 2012!

I was thinking the Zesty Tortellini soup was vegetarian (didn't see any obvious meat listed), but if you google "rennet" you'll re-affirm your vegetarian lifestyle...

Again, please Jenny Craig keep meat-free customers in mind when you make your next food choices. Thanks

Yeah, gelatin, and I ate one without realizing it. Very sad, cause it's their best dessert, in my opinion. Maybe they'll take us into consideration one day and make it without gelatin.. i'm hoping anyways sad.gif

I'm struggling to lose weight being a vegetarian. YUP many people don't get it...
Anyway, I am trying to include meat protein because its just so impossible on the Jenny diet to get enough.
I'm grossed out. Today I had Chicken Sandwich, GROSS And than Cashew/Chicken Stir fry. DISGUSTING.
I had to pick out all the chicken. GROSS
I really want to lose this weight and want to stay vegetarian. (I'm not apposed to eating meat personally but I have a medical condition that creates difficulty digesting it so I usually just don't eat. 9 yrs.)
If I'm going to eat meat than I want it to be great quality. EXCELLENT. I can buy it myself for god sakes.
I need Jenny to realize that WE need higher protein options. Lentils, Beans/rice, Maybe we can use the meat substitutes and not theirs? Its why I quit last summer. I'm back but it won't last if I don't have more options.
How many days can you eat that pizza or pasta.
Advice welcome

Oh my dear do I EVER feel your pain!! I have the same affliction, miss meat but have not been able to eat it in 5 years!! (can't digest it)

I told my consultant today that I cannot survive on starch alone and Im missing my tofu, and eggplant parmiagna and bean bakes! She made me a deal that in 2 weeks if I continue to lose at my current rate (2lbs a week) I will be able to incorporate 2 meals on my own even if Im not at my halfway weight.. hope that helps!

On the plus side, I do eat eggs, so was able to try the new omelet, the potatoes are rank but the rest isnt bad.

VEGGIE TIP: Every week I make a ginormous pot of soup from all the "free vegetables" we're allowed and freeze individual containers to bring to work. I add lots of spices and flavor.. I find it makes me feel like less of a rabbit.

wow - i just googled rennet.. I was meat free before but seriously. let's come out of the dark ages. so gross.

I quit due to the lack of meat free options and was considering re-joining with hopes they had upped them but saddly it looks about the same. such a shame. Jenny should want to be on the green trend with the rest of the world!!!

The tortellini soup is NOT vegetarian even though it has meatless sausage. See above post on rennet. Ask for a menu planner. All veggie items will have a carrot symbol next to them.

Ask your JCC to get out 'the book'. A basic big white binder with every ingredient in every single entree/dessert/snack, etc. Look in there and find your answer. Don't be afraid to ask questions!

I ate the tortellini soup before realizing it wasn't vegetarian. It made me physically ill when I learned what rennet was. sad.gif

Thanks all for explaining about the cheesecake. I am a vegetarian and am six weeks into the program. I have been eating the cheesecake and asked my consultant why the two types had no carrot next to them on menu.
She didn't know - so now the mystery is solved.

I also ate the Tortellini soup twice after my consultant told me it was vegetarian.

She doesn't understand that I eat dairy and eggs (gets vegetarian mixed up with vegan). Perhaps I need a new consultant? She also missed my 4-week milestone consultation, which I learned about online here.
