guideline is 5 carb servings on 1200 cal menu
add the Jenny snack and you are looking at about 7 each day

Salisbury Steak dinner shows 2 meat servings, obviously the steak is about 4 ounces????shouldnt that = 4 meats? Also the fat for this dinner in the guide shows 1 serving of fat....but the package states there are 10 grams of fat....shouldnt this = 2 fats?

A little confused about calculating my own food when Jenny's calculations dont add up....whats up with that?

I just did the same thing about 2 weeks ago when I hit halfway. The meals themselves didn't add up to what they say we should use as a guideline, but when I calculated an entire day with meals and snacks it all worked out. The extra servings of meat etc came off of another meal. My JCC said not to worry about the pre planned stuff just to follow the guideline for MOMO. Still, how do our snacks factor into our day then?? How do we know what to chose for a snack? It would be very complicated to plan your meals while trying to leave out "servings" for snacks. Did you get a straight answer?

You really need to post this in the dietician's forum for a "Jenny Answer." This section is for "menu planner feedback & questions." They mean the online menu planner function, not if you have questions about planning a 1/2way menu.

I'll give you the "short answer." The 1/2way menu is not intended to be the same as your regular menu. When I explain 1/2way to clients I ALWAYS tell them that... cuz it's human nature to compare & see if it adds up. Your 1/2way menu had 5 starches, etc. Your Jenny menu is meant to be 20-30% fat, 20-30% protein, & 40-60% carb. Think of it as a sliding scale. One day, you may consume more carbs (60%...or maybe 6 or 7 exchanges worth) and have less protein. It's not set in stone. The 1/2 way menu is meant to give you a way to calculate & quantify your food allotment. Imagine trying to work with percentages & a sliding scale....as in "the day you eat 60% of your calories from carbs, make sure you only have 20-25% of your calories from protein....and if you have 25% protein, that leaves you less room for fat."

The nutrition dept will give you a much better answer, I'm sure. but the 2 menus were never meant to be equal.
