Activities for people with BAD knees

I'm new to Jenny Craig. The Gay and Lesbian forum sounds like a great way to kick-off my weight loss efforts, in that, I am a computer junkee at heart and a gay man.
I've had less than hoped-for results from a couple of knee surgeries. So, during the summer I can swim and do-so with a fanatic committment to keep myself active. Now that the winter is here I am less inclined to work-out.
Although I've had continued success from the 6 short weeks that I've been on the Jenny Craig diet, I've reached a definate slowing-down to my weight loss results. My consultant posed the question if I have been keeping-up with my exercise committment. Frankly, the anwer was, "Not really!"
I can't walk very far. Jogging and skipping rope is out of the question. Bicycling is very much limited. I can walk slowly to minimize the impact on my bad knee joints. I can do sitting-isometric and isotonic exercises without any hesitation and I do them regularily. Any other suggestions?
Best wishes for your weight loss efforts,
Dave

I've found clean my apartment and going through things in my apartment a great way to get active. Sometimes I burn up a bigger sweat cleaning and organizing than when I plan a workout in the gym. Since the holidays are a time of abundance, clearing out your house/apartment is a great way to balance the over consumerism that the holidays have become and reflect on all the amazing stuff in your life.
Hope that helps,

Can you find an indoor pool, like at the Y or rec center?
Do you own or have access to a jacuzzi or hot tub? If so you could at least get in some leg work if it's large enough to stretch out a bit.
Did you have physical therapy after your surgeries? What exersizes did you do then, if so?
Maybe some modified pilates with bands would be an option?
More questions than answers, I know, but just trying to get an idea of what you have to work with.
