Hi Valerie,

After many, many unsuccessful attempts to lose weight and keep it off (heard this before?) I sat one night and saw your commercial of you in the bikini. I looked at the joy in your face and no matter how good of an actress you are, you could not fake that joy. I knew that this was my time to call Jenny Craig and I did. Thank you, I have not looked back. That was April of this year. As of today's date, November 3, 2009 I have lost 71lbs. I have a goal of 100lbs. Only 29 more to go! Yay me!

I just finished your book Finding It. Literally just finished the last page. As I read the pages, I knew that all of your fears about maintenance and image was everything I thought and still think about, but your words make me feel so much more encouraged to succeed this time for good.

It feels so good to know that there are other people out there that have the same fears, hopes and dreams. So, again thank you for sharing your journey with the world, and thanks for inspiring me to succeed.

Dana

Dana:

First of all - congrats! You are inspiring me. And I, also read both of Val's books. It was like that boost I needed to give Jenny a try. So I'm down 5.8 after my first week. I'm looking forward to the journey and feel that I'll finally have some support when it comes to maintenance.

So, thank you for your post too!

:-)

Dana,

As I just picked up Valerie's book (the audio version) from my library today, I had to chime in on your post (albeit a bit late).

The exact same thing happened to me on May 18th. Saw Valerie on a commercial (as I was sitting in my recliner feeling absolutely horrible that I had just induldged in a healthy serving of potato chips for the umpteenth time) and immediately got on the telephone to call JC after the commercial ended. Within a half hour I was signed up for a year's worth of the program. My food arrived on May 22nd and my journey started.

Now 28 weeks later, I am 48 pounds lighter, 2 pounds away from my fourth and final goal, and am loving Val's audio book. Started it this afternoon on a drive to a meeting and will probably finish it, if not tonight yet, certainly by tomorrow night. Her struggles are so normal, were so much my own. Thanks for sharing,.. all three of you!
50+ pound weight loss and into maintenance. It's been an exciting road and well worth the effort.

Here's to weight loss and a new life!

Valerie also inspired me to finally make the call. I gained weight in the last year due to the stress and lack of time because I was finishing my Master's degree, working full time, having a family, dealing with my mother's last year of battling ,and finally succumbing, to stage 4 kidney cancer. When September came around and the added stress was gone I was looking at almost 40 extra lbs. yet I felt that I could get back on track and lose it quickly. Nope, I'd try and stop, try and stop. I felt exhausted from the year of **** and as much as I hated feeling fat and down( for the first time in my life) I just couldn't seem to get it right. I tried the cookie diet and then eating only nutrition bars during the day but felt so pooped and drained that when I'd get home instead of working out I'd sit on the couch with a glass of wine after the kids went to bed and the situation only got worse. Finally, I saw the Valerie commercial again and I thought enough is enough. I went online and browsed around. Saw a Nicole Sullivan video blog and watched all of Valerie's blogs and then made the call. Talking to a stranger and admitting my weight outloud was uncomfortable for me. I am the type of person who would clean before the maid got there (though I've never actually had a maid), fix my hair before going to the hair salon, starve myself before starting a diet so the starting # would not make me feel sick but I just bit the bullet and blurted it out. It stung for a second but the voice on the other end of the phone was nothing but kind and supportive. Well, I started Jenny on March 10 and feel as if I have walked out of a fog and into the light. I am loving Jenny and feel as if this program is the perfect fit for me. I love the food, am motivated to walk every single day rain or shine, and love all the support and accountability. I thank you Valerie from the bottom of my heart!
