Has anyone tried Val's workout DVD? I got it and I did the Level 1 and oh my goodness my legs hurt so bad...and is the Level 2 workout on there only for when you hit your goal and are toning or is it for losing weight also?? Thanks :-)

I have the DVD and am going to try it for the first time tonight. I think all the sections are meant for you to do during weight loss. I'm sure they also help during maintenance but you should tone during loss, also. I hope it's a fun workout!

Hello, I almost bought Valerie's DVD today. Please let me know what you think of it? I'm wondering if this DVD will cause you to work up a sweat and what the cardio is like? Thanks. smile.gif

I really like it...I did the 20 min one twice and then tried to do the 40 min one and I couldn't hardly get through it...I really like it I would definitely suggest it.

LOVE LOVE LOVE this workout!!! It makes me so sore the next day I can barely get up the steps but I'm in love with that kind of pain. It proves to me that my muscles are actually working. smile.gif I would suggest this DVD to anyone.

P.S.
The chair workout section when you are laying on the floor and kicking your legs up and over the chair
rocks.

I watched it for the first time laying on the couch falling in and out of sleep, thinking, I can do that. Finally, last Saturday, I did the 20 min followed by the 40 min workout, and in many spots I had to just walk in place, because I couldn't keep up or I would just do something else, that wasn't so intense, as long as I just kept moving. This tape made me realize that I haven't been seriously exercising. The next day my legs hurt so bad, that I knew the following day was going to be worse, and it was. Normally, I feel it by the second day when I've had a good workout. It wasn't until Wednesday, that I tackled it again and this time only did the 20 min workout. My goal is to get myself doing those jumping lunges and what ever those side lift things are. When I get that down, I will be Bikini ready myself. Think enthusiastic and you'll be enthusiastic! RIGHT? Wish me luck, I need it. ohmy.gif

PS - I love the tape!!!!

Did you buy your DVD from JC centre? I got mine at Target but even though the opening sequence shows a chair workout, I have attempted both the workouts plus the abs but did not see the chair workout section.
Also Target's had a sticker that there was a Target exlcusive workout on there but I didn't see it...
Thanks for the info!

I really want to get this DVD. I am always looking for something to change up my workout. I am on my 3rd week and I really related to Valerie's first book Losing It. (I, too, love the jalepeno poppers). I have been doing really good on my program these past 3 weeks and have found my motivation to workout again. I have been pretty active in the past, going to the gym 3-5 days a week. I even had a personal trainer...but it didn't do me much good. I have my treadmill at home along with just about every piece of home workout equipment. I have been eye balling the DVD at my local center (I go to the Ogden, Ut center...even though I live in Evanston, WY) and I have been thinking about getting it. Maybe I will use it as my reward when I hit my 5% goal.

Valerie, thanks for being such a great motivator. I look forward to reading your other book and getting my butt kicked with your workout. If you could do it with all of the crazy that you went through....I can with all of the crazy that I have been through.

I did the video for the 1st time on Friday. My shoulders and upper chest area were really sore. When I started the video, I thought I was at the Starting place for Level 1 but was actually at the beginning where the trainer shows the exericises. I did the exercizes and then did them again as the actual work-out. I was sweating like crazy, so I know it has some cardio benefits, too. I'm getting ready to put it on again for my second go at it. Even though I'm only on week 2 (I lost 7 lbs.!!), I know that if you don't firm up at my age, I'll end up with a lot of flabby skin (wings) under my arms, so exercising to firm and build more muscle (helps to burn fat!) is the way to go! I recommend this DVD to anyone not sure about starting exercising. Anything I couldn't do, I didn't! I have a bad right knee so, for now, I can't put my full body weight on it so I had to skip/modify those exercises. Have a great day! ps can someone post how to put my weight loss on the ticker? I can't figure it out.

I agree! I just bought the DVD at the center last night and did the 40 minute workout tonight....it's a great workout! It really reminded me of the boot camp I did with the Marines 10 years ago. Great, classic calesthenics. I really worked up a sweat and I agree that I'll feel very good about myself indeed when I can get through all the jumping lunges! I highly recommend it.

YA! Janetc20! You did the 40 minutes first - you go girl! I missed doing it yesterday (went out with the girls to see Shutter Island) But I'm definately going to do it in about 5 mins. It feels great to be exercising again! Years ago, when my daughter just turned one (she turns 15 on Monday, 3/8) I lost a lot of weight, went from a size 20 to a 12 jeans. I was on WW fat & fiber plan which really worked for me, plus I was taking step classes 5-6 times a week (I became obsessed with going--not good for my family, I would be upset with my babies if I couldn't make it to the gym for a class--not fair to them.. Regrets!) Then WW changed the plan, I convinced my sister to join the gym with me (although she's always been trim) and she didn't like step class and had me walking on the boring treadmill with her. Naturally, that bored the life out of me (I rather walk outdoors in nature than in a stuffy, smelly gym!) so before I knew it I stopped going to WW because I wasn't getting results any more, and I quite going to the gym. Well, I'm now wearing a size 22-24 jeans and have to take baby steps with exercising because of my knee and my back. But I'm doing it. Again, one day at a time, is all I need for now! Good luck on your exercise regime, Ms. Boot Camp! You're inspiring me! smile.gif Holly

Well, Holly-Go-Lightly, I'll tell ya I'm feelin' it today! I wouldn't recommend anyone starting there if they have not been exercising regularly. Fortunately, there are lots of options -- including the everyday abs that a person really could fit in everyday -- it's short. I can't be obsessed about exercise -- there's not enough time and energy in the day! It would be great if I could! (j/k) I'm going to investigate the other options on that DVD along with the 40 minute one and the yoga classes a couple of times a week and maybe throw in a treadmill workout every now and then. Gotta keep mixing things up, right? Everybody just do something -- anything is better than nothing, right?

Hi Just wanted to stay that I bought the DVD at the center to compare. The DVD at the center does have a get started chair workout section followed by another section where Christopher the trainer shows you how to do the excercises when you are first starting, how to start at a certain level and then build up kind of thing.

If you aren't an experienced work out person I would recommend buying the DVD from the center to transition yourself into the First 20 minute workout which is on both DVDs.
Good luck!

I love the DVD!Starting my 3rd week I got it & did the chair workout w/ 20 minute for a couple of weeks. My 8th week which is last week, I started the 40 minute. Its very challenging but I feel incredible when I'm done.. The next day a little sore but the cardio bursts they do really make you sweat & I feel like it kicks up my metabolism definately.. You also feel the the burn so to speak so you know its working.. I'd suggest to lead into it w/ 20 minute for a couple of weeks before trying the 40 minutes. Val is so relateable & when she is pushing through on the tape makes you feel like you can too! I highly reccomend it!:)

I absolutely love this DVD!!! But the one part that irks me is in the 40 min workout, the part where they are on the floor working on the legs/glutes by doing the raise with the one leg crossed-over, they skip the pulses on the one side.... Which is fine, because Chris doesn't count out the regular ones right so I just count the 10 regular ones and add the 5 pulses myself...

When's the next DVD Valarie???!!!
