Hello everyone.

I'll start by introducing myself, My name is Noah. I live in Oregon, I'm 25. 6'4" and have *a lot* of weight to lose.
I decided enough was enough, I'm tired of being overweight. its not healthy, and its destructive to my personal life.
So things need to change. I started with Jenny Craig a week ago and weighed in today, I lost 6.2lbs. in my first week.

Browsing these forums is a great inspiration. Reading thread after thread about your journeys and successes on Jenny Craig.
They have placed me on a special 2600 Calorie diet. on top of the daily menu I get

5 Starch
3 Fats
3 Meats
2 Milks
1/2 Fruit

So as you can tell, I haven't been hungry on the program as of yet. Prior to Jenny Craig I would only eat 2 meals a day Lunch and Dinner, but I was a slave to the "fast food joint" of my choosing. Now the sheer volume of food they have me eating is hard to keep up with. I'm amazed that I even lost weight!

Hope to hear from you folks! Keep up the good work!

Congratulations on your decision to get healthy. Great weight loss your first week .. feels good doesn't it ??

Breaking those bad eating habits is just part of your journey and breaking bad eating habits is hard for all of us. You CAN do it and you'll be surprised how bad that stuff tastes after a couple weeks on Jenny Cuisine, lol.

Hang in there and never stop believing in yourself. Half the battle is setting your mind to DO IT ... the other half is keeping that motivation going. Jenny does the rest for you .. and it really does work.

Good luck hun and feel free to drop me a message if you like.

WAY TO GO !!!

Weight loss to date ~:~ 46.0 lbs ~:~

Hi Noah, congratulations on making the choice to get healthy. I no longer see this only as a weight loss program, it is a choice in gaining greater health. Have loved my journey and it's only been since March 22nd.

Good to have you on the team. 6'4", wow. DH is 6'3" and surely wish he would join me on this path. You have any words of wisdom for me to share with him? We're twice your age, so he has a different mindset than you, but still, he could use a few pounds less.

Again, glad to have you with us! Will look for you on the thread.
50+ pound weight loss and into maintenance. It's been an exciting road and well worth the effort.

Here's to weight loss and a new life!

Welcome aboard, Noah!

Good for you on taking the first step in your weight loss journey... that was the hardest one to take, trust me!

As for the food, you will get so used to eating every three hours (or so) that it will become second nature. Just think, it is better to be FULL than HUNGRY, right?!?! I, too, was a fast food junkie - how could you not be, really? - it is so fast and easy and convenient... well, guess what? So is Jenny Craig. I love that I can pop 90% of my food in the microwave and within 5-minutes, I have an awesome meal ready to eat! I have been at this for over 6-months now and I have not had one taste of fast food (not even a french fry) and it feels great. The cravings will likely ALWAYS be there, but they become second nature.

You are doing an amazing job, as shown by your loss this past week. Keep up the great work and I look forward to getting to know you better!

Hi Noah, welcome to the program. I used to also eat two large meals and changing to eating several small ones is a challenge but you will get used to it in time. If you have any questions feel free to ask, there is also a group for 20 somethings if that helps. Good luck.

Wow, thanks for the warm welcome folks! I just weighed in for my second week and lost another 2.2lbs. I had a few temptations this week but I didn't give in, I went to Outback steak house for a birthday, everyone was ordering cheeseburgers and Bloomin' Onions but I stuck to my Salad, And boy what a good Salad it was! (I had onions in my salad so HAH! Mr. Bllomin Onion, take that!) I also started walking. Which I haven't done in a few summers, and I feel really good about that. Walked 7 miles last week and 7 miles this week. I'm going to try 10 miles for my third week. (seeing that they want me walking 5 days a week instead of 4)

Anyways. Thanks again for the welcome! I will keep you posted on my weekly progress!

You are well on your way, Noah. Great job at Outback!

It's funny how the healthy things start to taste really good and the lovely, fried, greasy things don't call our names like they used to.

Keep up the good work- when you're ready, you'll add that 5th day of walking... and you'll love it.

First, Noah I am certain you will enjoy the JC program and be successful. It is a great weight loss solution for so many which will now include you.

Next - Ms Emerald Green ... I just noticed that you are just about to have lost 100 pounds! Now, Angela is a favorite of mine as I remember her from way back when she was like at around 20 lbs down and she was ALWAYS so positive and cheerful and just a real joy to read whatever she wrote but Angela, this is really a wonderful, wonderful moment that I hope to celebrate with you. What do people say (if anything) when they see how much weight you have lost? Angela is also a tiny person so losing 100 pounds may visually have a greater impact than on a taller person. You are one wonderful lady with such devotion to your goal.

Do you recall the name of the very cute girl who lost over 100+ and was selected to be in a Jenny commercial while doing a cartwheel and they also had a giant poster of her in all the centers? She was another really sweet person like you:))

So, I was out walking today and I talked to my neighbor, The first thing he said was "Well, looks like someone went to the doctors" I told him about the diet I was on and how much weight I had lost so far and we chatted for a bit. He said I use to watch you leave the house around 12:30, and I'd say "Looks like he is headed on a Mcdonalds Run" which seems like a harsh thing to say, but at the same time. I'm thinking to myself. It's true. I would leave the house around noon-one and get Mcdonalds or subway or any other fast food.

Its just something interesting that made me think and I figured I would share it with you folks. People I barely speak to knew about my eating habits and when I would leave to get the food.

Personally it just gives me more drive to lose this weight.

On a good note, I was asked to walk 5 days a week this week, and I have walked every day for the past 9 days, so I have finally found myself in a routine. Screw 5 days a week, I'm going for 7!!!

Aliens300c,
Ok, I'm not a TRUE Californian I tell yas, but just a displaced Oregonian....I have about 100 lbs.to lose, and since starting this JC thing on Sept 4th, my energy has quadrupled and people are saying I have already lost weight. What a rush! I am eating food to live, not living to eat. I think I want to make a plaque out of that phrase eh? Nice to look at food as fuel. I haven't wanted to cheat, it's just not needed. I get the sweet, the salty, and the mushy and the crunchy foods during the week so naa I don't want to ruin a good thing. Keep it up, I too am a walker but thats just because I am not a driver. shhh (people drive like insane crazy down here) and I just don't wish to play the game..Anyway glad you joined this odd family we have here:-) Annr

Noah,

Congratulations! We are so proud of you! It sounds like you are doing a great job!

You are doing all the right things! Making the decision to get healthy, following the plan (and like you, I only ate lunch (maybe) and dinner, and even on the 1200 calorie diet, I'm having trouble getting all the food in too!), and walking every day! Even I'm having trouble getting in the activity every week!

I encourage you to get in on some of the challenges we have going on right now, if you're interested :-) Although it sounds like you are super motivated already, it might help you get a little extra push :-)

Good luck, and we will always be here to encourage you and support you in your weight loss!

Well, Week three finished and another 2.2lbs. down. That's a loss of over 10lbs this month! I'm hoping for another 2 next week, I'm going to work just as hard! this is a long road but I'm totally ready to make this change. You know, its funny. They asked me what I was doing this for. I told them the obvious reason of getting healthy, then I paused and said "I want to be able to ride a roller coaster without worrying about the bar or restraints!" along with these reasons I guess I would like to gain some self-confidence to start dating again and get into a relationship, It's funny this girl I really dig was telling me that she started dieting and was saying I should start too, and I hope she is stoked out by me dieting. Maybe I'll have enough courage one day once I lose some of this weight to ask her on a date. but anyways,

I've noticed my energy level increasing as I keep working out, I use to want to nap during the day, Now I don't feel the slightest need for a nap. Woopie!

Complaints so far? I really don't like the Anytime bars, but I've been able to replace those with the Diet pills and Milk. and I really don't like any of the pizzas! Another major complaint, I haven't had a doctor for years which I know isn't a good thing due to my size. but Jenny Craig says they require a doctors note allowing me to continue the diet, has anyone else 200+ had to do this? They said they haven't given them a deadline for the doctors note but they need to get one or I won't be able to stay on the diet. that was really discouraging, because I'm finally doing something about my life and now the people supplying my diet food are telling me I may get kicked off if I don't have a doctors note?! I know the simple answer is "go to the doctors and have them sign one!" Yes, I know. but Lately I have had some financial issues lately with the government and can't really afford to get insurance or go to the doctors at the moment, It's basically, Food, Rent, Bills, Gas, Broke. for a few months! Anyone got any ideas?

Anyways -2.2 more! woohoo!

You dont actually have to SEE the doctor to get the doctor's note. Just call their office and ask for one. That is what I did, no problems at all. I even went and picked it up myself since I needed to stop by to pick up my perscription anyway (which I now have not needed for 10 months thanks to weight loss). Otherwise they can just fax the note directly to JC.

To Sir Alien had landed,
No insurance, means no doctor, that is tough.....how about a free clinic in your area? Just go to get the paper signed by the doctor there. Thats what I would do if I were you...Hang in there...you are doing fantastic! Annr

Just figured I would chime in and tell you folks how I was doing, Haven't posted in 2 weeks,

After losing 5.5lbs in a week I think my body went into shock "you aren't supposed to lose weight that fast!! blarg!"
So 2 weeks ago I only lost .8lbs. and this week I lost another 1.2lbs.

That makes 18.2lbs total!

I went out to "Rib City" bbq food...I had a salad with grilled chicken and didn't splurge on my diet *woohoo* I've got a birthday party for a friend planned out for this week at the bar, I can have 2 light beers! (3 if I delete my cake, PB bar, Cookie, or Cheesecake) Shouldn't be a problem..I'll get a little buzz from 3 beers. as I am a big guy tongue.gif

Anyways...Hope everyone is doing good on there plans! Later!
