Hi Everybody,

Yesterday was a pretty good day. I did well on the JC plan and got in my 30 min. of cardio on the elliptical. I'm drinking my morning coffee, getting ready to workout on my treadmill. The new JC Anytime Bars, oatmeal/raisin, are a huge improvement. I actually like them. The icky gritty consistency is gone. I'm very proud of myself for hanging with the plan and working out, especially this time of year. I started in late October, so I will have gone through Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years with a new plan and a new, positive attitude. That's a 180 difference from year's past where I passively watch my weight creep up during this time of year, and then start addressing the problem in January. The best part is that I don't feel deprived or let down. Just the opposite--I feel empowered and energized. I know that I will have bad days, but the key will be to get back on the wagon the following day, and to keep consistently working out. I hope everyone out there has a great Tuesday! Keep your motivation high as we get closer to the peak of the holidays!

Good Wednesday Morning to All,

Yesterday was ok. Ever have one of those days where you constantly feel like you are running behind? Yesterday was one of those days for me. I just felt rushed and behind schedule, likely because I had to run some errands that messed up my schedule. I did a work out, and ate on the plan, but had unplanned extra foods. So I'll be aiming for a better day today. My weigh in is on Saturday morning and I hope to run a 5k race afterwards, if the weather isn't too horrible.

The weather outside is frightful. Cold, windy. Am glad that I can just snuggle in tonight. I exercised this morning (30 min. on the elliptical) and did well eating on the plan, except...ate a whole bunch of salted cashews, a real weakness of mine. I keep a huge container of cashews in my desk, a habit from having to work crazy hours and always keeping food (not necessarily the healthy kind) in my desk for those days when I have to burn the midnight oil. So after my third handful today, I gave them away so that I won't have this obstacle again. I just hope the extra salt and fat doesn't totally torpedo my weigh in this week. I'll have to amp up the hydration to flush the extra sodium out of my system.

My WI on Saturday morning went okay. I had lost less than a pound, but then I had not worked out on Thurs, Friday or Saturday early before WI, as I usually do. Yesterday I did great, today not so much. Yet, I'm hanging in there. I ran on the treadmill yesterday but didn't exercise today. I had kind of a tough week last week, for personal reasons, so my life felt pretty chaotic and out of control. But things have settled down and I'm hopeful about the upcoming week, although I do have 3 Holiday luncheons and 1 Holiday dinner to attend. Yesterday and earlier today, I had a killer headache that really puts a damper on being active.

I saw the movie "Invictus" yesterday. It's about Nelson Mandela. He quotes a poem that says, "I am the master of my fate, I am the captain of my soul." Wise words, indeed.

Hey RY,

There are more of us in the North, Toronto. I don't know anyone with JC here in East York (Toronto) so we're pretty much in the same boat. I'm new to this blog site, I've been on JC back in 2004 for two years and lost alot of weight 235lbs to 199lbs and now thinking about going back, except the food is very expensive.
