Thank you for the new thread, I am hoping to hear how others that are disabled in some way deal with being at home and the JC experience. Thanks

Hi,

I am new to JC and have been struggling with the program food as quite a lot of it has soy or tofu in it and that does nasty things to my thyroid function and I can't eat it. I also have fibromyalgia, arthritis and some other health challenges and was really impressed that JC was willing to keep working with me to customize a program that would work.

However this is only week 3 and I am still in the weeding out the wrong meals part of it and bouncing all over with my energy level and pain. Yesterday I was feeling quite isolated and discouraged, because yesterday was a bad day. I understand I am not the typical JC candidate...but then I stumbled upon this support group and I am so happy...because I can see from reading some of the posts that there are others just like me doing the weight loss struggle with the added challenge of pain & fatigue.

I have 2 Brussels Griffon puppies (which helps me keep active on walks) which is where my "Loves Griffons" name came from...but you can also call me Laurie biggrin.gif

Today is my first day on JC and I am very nervous! I have Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA) and Osteoarthritis (OA) as well as probable Fibromyalgia. I am so tired of being in pain all the time! I need to lose 50 to 60 pounds and I have tried many different diets and programs. I think I have hit bottom and become desperate to lose the weight, sooo here I go again. I know that by losing the weight I will decrease the amount of damage to my joints, my knees and hips are terrible. I was always very active until about 10 years ago so lack of activity has been very depressing for me. I am comitting to one day at a time as well as not giving up when I have a difficult day. Food is often how I cope with pain and depression. Not anymore! I look forward to all the support of those dealing with similar problems.

Hey! When I read this, I thought this is just like me! I also have fibromyalgia and very bad knees, so walking is not impossible but very painful as the swelling of the joints is very painful. I have "meds" that are supposed to help, but I find they really don't. I also have major depression. (2 breakdowns in 2 yrs), so the amount of meds I'm on has made it just about impossible for me to lose weigt. I did lose about 25 poundson my oown. It took me about 18 months and I was proud of myself. But now new meds usually means new pounds. I hope Jenny works for me as I desparatly want to lose to make it easier on my knees. So keep in touch, I'm sure we can struggle and encourage each other through this to victoru!
Learn from failure and then courageously start again. This will lead you to success.
