You sound exactly like me on my first Jenny Craig journey. The one week I gained (0.2lbs) was the same week I found out I was 6 weeks pregnant.
Now... I have a horrible diet outcome and came back to Jenny Craig having more to lose than I ever did before but that does not have to happen to you. Like you, I found myself STARVING or sleeping in the first trimester. I ate all the time and gained weight like nobody's business. However, I didn't make smart choices at all. McDonalds all the way. I believe you are supposed to eat around 500 calories more a day than you were pre-pregnancy to maintain a healthy diet. I have no idea if that is based on a maintenance diet or a diet diet (like 1200 calories) but your doctor should be able to answer that for you.
Don't fret about the weight gain because you will gain throughout this pregnancy - a healthy weight gain is between 20 and 30lbs - sounds scary but if you look online, it will guide you through how much your baby and assorted other stuff weighs so that can ease your mind a bit.
I now believe that should I get pregnant again, I will be able to do it the healthy way and gain the minimum or average amount of weight.
If you have any questions.. let me know!
Enjoy every moment of your pregnancy... it goes SO quickly, even if it doesn't feel like it!

I do not know how you would continue on JC b/c I just started it. But I do have to say that when I was pregnant I had gestational diabetes and I was put on a "diet" to control my sugar intake. The doctor called it WW for Pregnant women. I gained 18lbs my whole pregnancy. Lost that plus more after giving birth and getting rid of all my water weight.
I'm guessing if someone can be on a WW-like plan while pg then why not JC? I'm wishing you best of luck in your pregnancy
wk 1 - 3.8
wk 2 - .2
wk 3 - 3.5
wk 4 - 3.0
total 10.5 lbs - 16.5 lbs to go to goal!

But, make sure you keep up with your annual renewal so you can restart after the baby is born (I think 6 weeks post partum!)

Because of liability reasons, women who are pregnant are not allowed to be on Jenny Craig.

My son was born in 2001---I was over 240 when I had him.
After that, I started to loose weight on my own, but watching what I ate. Got down to 180. Got pregnant in 2002 and had my daughter in Feb 2003.
During the pregnancy, I decided to be careful with what I age (portion wise), but to enjoy the things I wanted to eat. So, while every night I had a bowl of ice-cream (Edy's light fudge tracks) and I'd have Taco bell a few times a month and I was totally addicted to tator tots for some reason (Ore-Ida that you make at home)...I gained about 20 lbs with her, maybe 25 (I didn't worry too much at the end). I ate fruits and veggies, because I always HAVE and love them, along with lots of milk and yogurt (McDonalds yogurt parfait was a favorite snack). But, really, you don't need more than an extra 200-500 calories a day I think they say, depending...and, the more you weigh when you start, the less you gain.
A coworker who recently had a baby in my office had an overall loss during her pregnancy---but she had been very overweight to start with (probably 80-100 bls overweight) and was immediately diagnosed with diabetes (not gestational either---she had diabetes and didn't know it)...so, her diet changed radically (for the better) and after teh baby was born, her weight was lower than when she started.
My sister, on the other hand, gained 50 lbs with her last pregancny (after loosing 50 on WW) and had to reloose the whole 50 lbs.
I think its a matter of paying attention to portions, not going crazy (its not a reason to eat a half gallon of ice cream every night, which I would have loved to do, lol) and remembering that you are changing your LIFESTYLE forever on JC and really, going back to your "old" lifestyle while pregnant won't help you after you have the baby---take this as a time to practice some good balanced eating, with the occassional splurges.

I loved loved loved being pregnant... aside from being sick and nauseous the entire time. I liked being able to 'eat for two'-- but that's probably why I am back on Jenny Craig-- I was still eating for two after I gave birth...LOL.
I hope you have a positive experience during your pregnancy. I also had gestational diabetes and I gained close to 40 pounds, but lost five in the last two months after being put on a strict diet by my doctor to control my blood sugar.
Keep us posted-- boy or girl? And possible names?
Hope you find the support you need during this special time. Take care!

I just joined JC. This is actually my first full day on the program.
I've breastfeed my daugther since she was born and now I'm trying to wean her. I don't know if you've given any thought as to breastfeeding or formula but I would encourage you to breastfeed. It is the best food you can give her. You might be lucky and lose lots of weight while breastfeeding as it burns up more calaories or you might be like me and not lose. Either way, don't decide not to breastfeed just so that you can jump right into dieting.
Merry Christmas!
Half way point: 189.5
Goal weight: 165

First of all enjoy the pregnancy. I had a high risk pregnancy and I was so worried that I forgot to enjoy the time. Second it was easier to make healthy food choices when I realized that it wasn't about me, it was about my son. Keep in mind that this is a joyful time in your life and your OB is there to guide you through all of your concerns including eating. Keep "healthy" junkfood in the house (fruit, jello, etc). Ask your OB about sugar substitutes though. Mine said to limit my intake. Gaining weight is a fact when you are preggo so don't worry too much. Last webmd.com has some great message boards for preggos that are really helpful.
Congrats on the pregnancy.
