So after a year watching my wife shed pounds using a combination of Jenny and the Gym, I finally made the decision to try Jenny. I signed up last night and ive made it through two meals. Should I jump on a scale now? Ok Just kidding. Im weighing in at 207 and looking to lose 40 pounds. I tried doing it on my own and made it halfway there but a small nagging injury kept me from working out and well im ready to finish what I started.

To me my weights only been a number. I personally didnt give a crap about the number as long as I felt healthy. However i know its time. My 8 yr daughter called me fat daddy so i figured I should look into JC. Hope you dont mind me rambling on with my writing. Its what I do.

Good luck to all other starting their thinning process.

So Day 1 is in the books. Seemed pretty easy. I was only feeling hungry after the gym. I ate a snack before the gym and then proceeded to play basketball for 2 hours. felt good and hungry. I probably could have done without the brownie for the dessert as I wasn't feeling hungry and it was late at night.

My wife said that there will be times you just wont feel hungry enough to eat all the food and im not a huge fan of sweets to begin with. I know I will miss drinking beer and BBQ food with my friends.

Day 2 is working out well now. I used to pound a large ice coffee with milk and sugar but once i added the equal, not so much. heres to 10 bottles of water......

Congratulations on taking the first steps. I think those are the hardest. I joined with my husband about two months ago. He can never eat all the food on the menu. And I sometimes feel I would like more food. He has lost 40 pounds so far, and has about 50 more to go.

Keep us posted!

Thanks. There are times when I dont think I can eat all the food but then there are other times that Im starving. Ive been loading up on salads. I dont use dressings at all. My wife lost close to 35 pounds in a year. She was trying to get rid of her pregnancy weight. Shes checking in with the JCC once a month basically to get some food that she liked. I too was trying to get rid of my pregnancy weight (so to speak.) I probably could stand to lose 50 pounds but the last time I weight 160 was my freshman year in college. First weigh in is on Thursday. Though, Ive been checking the scale my wife bought through JC. If this scale is right, assuming I dont go to an all you can eat Chinese Buffet, I am down 10 pounds. Scary what taking my coca cola and ice coffee with sugar out of the equation can do for you.

Ten pounds will be great - it might even be too much, but your JCC will let you know. They say if you lose too fast, your body can go into starvation mode, making regular weight difficult. My husband was originally on a 2400 calorie a day. He had to add two turkey sandwiches to the JC 1700 calorie menu. I get jealous sometimes! He has also bumped up his exercise routine. He usually loses about 3 lbs a week.

Let us know what the JCC counselor says on your first weigh in!

Ok, So I am day a way from Weigh in. Not really worried about it since it is only a number. Ive seen some success already. im on the 1700 diet but after reviewing the 1500, Im probably following that one. The meals are the same. Its the extra yogurt and cottage cheese stuff that im not doing. Me and dairy products dont mix well (so to speak).

I work out hard 4 days a week so your probably right about adding in a meal. Ive only felt hungry once or twice though. Usually near dinner time. My kids are in so many activities that sometimes I need to wait a little longer to eat. In the past, thats when I would overeat or would give into fast food. But I am trying to being disciplined.

Weigh in is in the PM so Ill update on Friday.

First weigh in completed and I lost 7.4 pounds. I was a little disappointed since the scale at home was showing a double digit drop. But onward and downward......

42 more to go...

Congratulations - 7.4 lbs is great for your first week. You really don't want to lose too quickly. Your body needs to get settled around the new weight. I weight myself on three different scales (home, gym and JC). They are all different, but all different in the same way, if that makes any sense! So, even though the total weight may be different, the number of pounds lost is consistent. It's kind of like having your clocks set at different times in rooms of the house, your mind sort of makes the adjustment.

Good luck!

Christine

Congratulations!
7.4 is a great number for the first week. I started in January 09 and have now lost 63 pounds; I found that after the first two weeks I settled in and made the commitment to stick it out. I am now half-way to my goal of 250 and each week is a new victory as I get closer. The one thing that has helped me through the challenges of a developing a new mindset regarding food is my JC adviser. She keeps me motivated and on task with tips and at times a kick in the rear. I would be lost without her. Good luck on the program and will keep tabs on your progress, I'll look forward to seeing you reach your goal!

Weigh in last night and I lost 2.4 pounds. Only a little dissappointed because the night before weigh in, i was drinking and eating pizza. Definitely was worth it though. Made myself suffer at the gym last night after weigh in.

My JCC is the same as my wifes. Shes nice. I think I will need more help when it comes to planning the menu. Since Im still in the planned menu phase, its still a regiment to for me.

Ive been trying to wear the same clothes to each weigh in. Makes it easier since I head to the gym right after.

I have a BrewFest im going to in a few weeks and figured Im not going to worry about the JC while im there. (Ill be drinking a large amount of my meals!)

So my goal right now is to lose 8 pounds before July 17th. It willl put me 2 pounds shy of my 1/2 way point.

Tonight is week 4 weigh in as well as measurements. Should be interesting. This week was a little rough as I did have some beers (alot) on Tuesday night with my brother who lives in NY. I dont get to see him often so we ripped it up a little. However, I dont worry about the week to week gains as long as I continue to see progress from month to month. My real hope is to be at the half way point by the middle of July (9 pounds shy) and maybe another 8 lighter but the end of August.

My main concern is the winter when I start hibernation mode. Im not a big fan and thats when I tend to put on weight.

Awesome to read all your progress! Keep it up and you may be a possible pick for a male JC spokesmodel!!

I appreciate that. Im a little worried about this week. I don't have my normal energy level. Im not blaming it on the food. I think Im blaming the weather. I live in the NorthEast and with the exception of maybe 10 minutes here and there, its been raining or cloudy for the last 2 weeks. Also, I go to the gym 3-5 times a week. When i was lifting on Saturday, I felt a little twinge in my shoulder. I didnt think anything of it. the next day I was at the gym for some basketball and was fine. Then on Monday, I couldnt even lift my right arm above my shoulder. It got better throughout the day so of course, I went to the gym. Figured again to do only cardio because of the shoulder and was playing more hoop. Maybe 15 minutes into my shoulder feels like its dragging on the floor it hurt so much. The pain is intolerable when I try and move it. Im not much of a treadmill fan but have a feeling Im gonna have to get reacquainted. Not thrilled

So my last weigh in was on Thursday and I lost .5 pounds. My lowest amount of weight lost but considering my energy level and a night out drinking, not a total loss. Im already behind the 8ball with the 4th festivities. Too many friends with adult beverages and the drunk munchies. Breakfast the next morning which was excellent but not exactly a JC meal!

time to work my *** off at the gym.....
