I tried the Beef & Barley stew yesterday and its really really good!!!

I don't eat beef but to be on Jenny for the length of time I need to be, and to keep things interesting, I decided I needed to expand my horizons. (it wasn't easy-as I haven't eaten red meats in about 5 years.) So far I have tried the swedish meatballs, the bbq meatloaf and now the beef stew. I have to say I'm going to buy extras of this promo item so when it goes away, I'll have some for the coldest months of January and February.

Try it---it's good!!! Very hearty with the potatoes and barley. Also the beef is tender and not fatty or full of grizzle. That's a real turn off! sad.gif

Enjoy! biggrin.gif

I totally agree with you Lynn!! I find it delicious!!! I've had it twice this week, and I'm going to be sure to get plenty when I go back for my WI on Monday!! There was even more than just 2 pieces of beef in there also! It's a perfect meal on the colds days and it's filling!

Lynn,
I am glad you liked the beef and barley stew...i don't like the shelf foods,(it is a shelf food, not a frozen entree')so..i consider you a very brave woman, one that hasn't eaten red meat in in 5 years to ventured out and had JC Beef and barley Stew...I would have waited and had a fillet mignon,,now tha is some delicious red meat, yummy!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i haven't ordered food in over a month, but if it is that good,i may have to try it,,,but it is a promo so they won't have any left by the time i order food in late January......Nice chatting with you keep warm this week-end!!!!!!!!!!! Christine

I really really liked it too! I thought it would be watery, more like soup, but it IS thick like stew should be! I even got inspired to make my husband real beef stew to eat when I had this and I wasn't even tempted to eat some of his because mine tasted just as good ! Definately going to get more this week !

Hi Christine! Doing well, just working a lot. Last week was just a 9/10 of a pound weight loss. But, with no exercise, a few glasses of wine (stress), its kind of what was expected. At this time of year I'll be happy its not a gain. smile.gif
I see by your ticker that you are doing a great job with weight loss. I'm so impressed!! Looks like you and I are aiming for the same goal weight. Are you doing okay with the holidays?

Only thing that I don't like about it is it usually blows up on me in the micro and falls over sad.gif

I like it too. It's not the bowl that's making it jump around, though, as others have thought. It's something in the stew itself. Yesterday, I put it in a regular bowl and covered it with a microwave plate cover and it was still making crazy popping noises and the bowl cover had stew on it. But, at least I didn't lose any stew to the microwave.

I love the stew...nice and hearty. Everyone at work knows when I heat it up because it sounds like it is exploding...watched it flip over on it side...kinda weird.

I had it today. The taste was ok. I am not crazy about it. And I am very gassy and bloated now.

I have to say--I had this and while the portion size was very good (especially if you add additional vegetables; I was actually FULL when I finished), I found the taste to be just OK. I don't think I will be ordering this one again.
