Hello Singletons!
I am new to JC, signed up Wednesday and started on Thursday. I have already run into the challenges of balancing the program and social life... the beers did me in this weekend!
But I have to admit the food is pretty good- 100% better then nutrisystem! (I am a foodie, so that means a lot-- they call me a food snob wink.gif )
I am afraid that I will get tired of the same foods all the time after a while...
Glad to see that there are more of us out there!

Hi Lilac78,
Welcome to JC.
We have been trying to get up participation in the singles room so don't run away on us. Be patient, we are working on it. If you evern start to feel tired of the food talk to your consultant about switching it up. I did a couple of weeks where I stuck to just 1500 cals per day and only bought the JC deserts to switch it up. Sometimes I will schedule one day a week where I get to go out to lunch so I just get a salad. Eating Is a big thing with the people I work with. But I've found that I am more faithful and more successful when I stay strictly JC.

Again Welcome to JC.

I just started JC on Tuesday - you are right about the food being 100% better than NS!!! I didn't start the food until Thursday because I had to get a doctor's note. I have my first weigh-in on Tuesday - hopefully it'll be a good one!

Congrats to the two Newbies! Great decision to join Jenny Craig. I've been on Jenny since April '07. I lost 35 pounds in the first six months, then have been maintaining for the past year. (The downside is that I've been maintaining a weight that is 30 pounds over my goal!). Good news = I can maintain.

I'm an "live to eat" person, so how things taste and smell are important to me. I LOVE the JC food. My hardest thing is balancing social life (eating out, drinking) with the program and losing weight. Two weeks ago, I recommitted to going full-on JC. So far, I've had two very satisfying weeks and only ate out three times.

I haven't gotten too bored with the food, but I try to be creative. I also found the Creative Recipe cookbooks are fabulous. They give you a lot of great ideas for preparation, supplements and remind you that there are plenty of free and limited free foods that you can add in to their prepared meals.

As part of my recommitment, I am trying to stay active on the message boards and also blog on my journal almost every day. It really does help. (I pretend like I'm someone famous and there's someone out there that actually cares what I'm writing. It helps.)

Good luck and hang in there. Once you start seeing the results, you'll be so glad you did it.

Hi singles,
I thought I would jump in with a new topic. What do you think the correllation between being over weight and being single is? I was skinny a few years ago, and I guess I took it for granted having guys open doors for me or making friendly comments. I gained weight while I was in a committed relationship, however he kept saying he didn't care, but I did and was miserable with my body and with him. So, now I've been single for a month, but I have definitely noticed that guys don't open doors for chubby women or look twice at them. I've lost almost thirty pounds so far. I'm losing the weight to be happy, for myself, but I am wondering if deep down are any of us losing for someone we haven't met but are hoping to meet as well as our own health?

I've been overweight almost all of my life so I have nothing to compare it with.

I think that I'm probably more overweight than I would be if I had a significant other. I think I would eat less during meals and my binging would be nonexistent if there were someone else there. I tend to eat less in groups or in front of dates (because they can't tell that I obviously eat!!).

They say you do gain more weight in a relationship. I like to picture myself in my head what I will look like after I lose the weight that I want to. Losing weight is for myself but for the person who I will (hopefully) meet in my future. I am 30 and when I go out some guys are jerks. Some of the girls are as skinny as twigs but I don't want a guy who expects you to look like that or is that shallow. Sometimes it is easier to do the JC as a single person because then you can "hide" it better and plan out your outings for the week (only eat out one meal a week). Good luck to everyone! Love reading the posts, it keeps me going.

I feel quite intimidated when it comes to dating right now. I know a few guys that I'd be interested in, but I see pictures of girls they've dated in the past or their other girl "friends" or gal pals and I am just so much bigger. The twiggy look still dominates the socializing scene. I'm a young twenty something in Vegas and I don't even want to go out because not only will I be reminded of how "wrong" I look, but I'll derail my efforts with the drinking as well.
My best friend tells me that its good I'm taking this time to be single for myself. To improve myself and focus solely on my efforts to improve my health. I know she is right. Guys in the twenties are only after one thing, from one type of girl who looks the mold and they can be jerks, definitely. I'm just hoping as I get a little older and thinner the dating scene will improve.
