Hey Christine- Wow, keep up the good work!!! Over 40,000 steps in one day...unbelievable!!! I weigh in on Tuesdays, so today was my WI day. I maintained this week at 197, no loss, no gain. I didn't do great with my steps this week, and the scale proves that. So, I am motivated more than ever to keep up with my steps and see a loss on the scale next week.

August 2: 9591 steps, 479 calories burned
August 3: 3800 steps, 190 calories burned
August 4: 15,397 steps, 769 calories burned

These past few days I haven't been committing to the 10,000 step challenge. I'm not doing as well as I know I could. Less stepping means less calories burned, and my weight has been stalled at 197 for the past 3 weeks. So, I'm re-committing to my step program!!!

Aug. 9: 11,218 steps, 560 calories burned
Aug. 10: 7930 steps, 396 calories burned
Aug. 11: 7719 steps, 385 calories burned

Hello - I was very happy to see this 10,000 steps thread - but I hope you haven't abandoned it Learnig2Love!

I wear my pedometer everyday (well almost!) and absolutely believe in the accountability it provides.

That being said - I have been really struggling with activity since my job promotion in April. Very challenging desk job!! And a much longer commute (1 hour each way) which really eats into my activity time (and interest, quite frankly!).

Sooooo...

I am challenging myself to attain 7000 steps a day. And that is a challenge - because without making efforts to get in extra steps - my regular workday routine only provides about 3500!

I will post updates 1-2x a week minimum if you want to challenge each other!
Blessings,

Ladybug

Hi Ladybug 88- How great to hear from you! Actually, you are the one who inspired me to start up a 10,000 step club. You had posted a 10,000 step challenge a few months back, and I remember seeing how you faithfully checked in each day and reported your steps. You didn't seem to have tons of support, but you kept forging ahead anyway. I was really inspired by that. Like you, I also wear a pedometer every day, and I completely understand how a change in schedule can totally impact a walking routine, and throw everything out of balance. It takes a lot of planning and effort to hit 10,000 steps. I think your goal of 7,000 is a great one.

Good luck with your 7,000 step goal, and I look forward to hearing your results!

This past week has been pretty good for me, step-wise and for staying on plan, so I'm hoping for a solid loss when I go for WI tomorrow:

Aug. 17- 8903 steps
Aug. 18- 10,292
Aug. 19- 12,002
Aug. 20- 11,789
Aug. 21- 11,720
Aug. 22- 10,841
Aug. 23- 3686 (lazy day!)
Aug. 24- 10,363

Hi, well I am doing good with my 7000 goal:

Aug 24 = 7200
Aug 25 = 8124
Aug 26 = 6024 so far, am headed downstairs to watch a movie, so will make sure I get the rest in on my treadmill!

Learning2Love - excellent work, I m sure your stepping is helping to get your losses going again. My WI is on Thursday morn, so I will try to post again Thurs or Fri.

I read a little earlier in the thread that you were stalled at 197, may I extend a hearty (albeit belated) welcome to Onederland. rolleyes.gif

OK - today I got the RAM on my computer upgraded, so the pages do not take so dang long to load anymore - yay! It was my Jenny reward to myself. Anyways, to finish off August:

Aug 29 - 9285
Aug 30 - 6500
Aug 31 - 5000

These last 2 days could have been much, much worse - there were all sorts of extra steps I added into very sedentary days!! I shudder to think what the totals would have been without them...

Today is much better and I forced myself on the treadmill also so am over 9000. I may get brave and up my goal to 8000!

Happy stepping to all you steppers out there!
Blessings,

Ladybug

welcome Kappatit - great first day! My workdays are also really low unless I get creative with them - but it is good to get a "baseline' so that you know what kind of mini-goals to set for yourself to begin with. Mine can be as low as 3000 if I just let them be (shocking!!).

OK - here are my Sept steps so far:

Sept 1st - finished up at 9300 (thanks to the treadmill)
2nd - 9145
3rd - 8258
4th - so far I am at 7724, so I will go for 8000 and call it a night!

Welcome kappatit- It's great to have you stepping with us!

Ladybug- congrats on the excellent stepping and the pounds lost!

Sorry that I have been missing in action for the past week or so, but I have been sooooo sick. Some sort of heavy duty virus, or so the doctor at the hospital emergency ward told me. It has been hanging on since last Saturday, one full week! I finally feel a bit back to normal today, so I hope I'm on the mend. Needless to say, I was in bed for most of the week and didn't get much stepping in. I also missed WI. My appetite has been awful, could barely keep any food down. But I did keep track of my steps, somewhat, and here are my stats:

August 29- 10,805 (pre-virus)
August 30- 10,080 (pre-virus)
August 31- 4363 ( slowing down...)
September 1- ???? (sick)
September 2- 3989 (feeling a bit better)
September 3- 5287 (feeling even better...)
September 4- ???? (sick)
September 5- 2315 (sick again)

I'm hoping for improved health and improved stepping next week.

Tak care!

Learning2Love - I sure hope you are feeling better! When a virus hits like that - our routines go out the window! But you were doing great before - I have every confidence you can build it back up again!

I lost my JC pedo on Sunday, in long grass at a park, so it is gone, gone, gone! I have a couple of the freebie ones from Special K that Kellogs gave out at the beginning of the year - so I am not in withdrawal LOL but I am in the market to buy a better one. I loved my JC one, so might just buy it again - but I have heard you can get one that you can carry in your pocket or purse - that might be better - anyone reading have any idea where I would go to buy one??

OK - here are my stats since last time:

Sept 5 - 7229
Sept 6 - 8500
Sept 7 - 10231 (woohoo - over 10,000!)
Sept 8 - 9177

My goal is still 7000 inimum and that is working for me so far. I WI on Thursday this week so will post again then.

Kappatit - how is it going for you this week? Did you set a short term goal fo yourself, or are you aiming for 10,000 right away? *warning* pedos ARE addicting! rolleyes.gif

OK - I didn't come back Thurs becasuse my WI was rather disappointing! .2 loss. I am blaming TOM and I really think I will show a decent loss this week, IF I don't lose heart and just keep at it! So far so good.

Sept 9 - 8027
Sept 10 - 9095
Sept 11 - 7053
Sept 12 - 7157
Sept 13 - 7021

I am really working to get to my 7000 goal and with my job, even adding a walk at lunchtime, it is a stretch to get there! So I am keeping that goal for another week or so before I try bumping it up!

That being said - today is a good day, and I will get over 9000. I did one of Leslie Sansone's WATP videos today - first time in a while - and I forgot how motivating and encouraging she is!
I am still making do with my freebie Kellog's pedo. smile.gif

Happy stepping out there jenny girls! (and boys!)
Blessings,

Ladybug

I know you probably found out already, but an estimate is that there are 2000 steps in 1 mile.

I've started walking 2-3 hours of walking on my Wii, which equals about 12000-18000 steps which is about 400-600 calories burned. This doesn't include any normal walking I do during the day.

So today, 3/10/10 I walked 13569 steps in 2 hours.
