Also, I was pleased to see a 5 pound weight loss this past week. I think all this "stepping" helps!!!!

It was great to hear from you. Congrats on joining Jenny Craig, and also on your upcoming wedding! How exciting for you! It sounds like you are doing all the right things, like losing weight for you, and taking it ten pounds at a time. I think that is a really balanced way to approach weight loss. I have about 50 pounds to lose, and if I think about trying to lose the entire 50, I get discouraged. But if I think of tackling 10 pounds at a time, it seems so much more attainable. I joined a "Ten At a Time July-August" challenge on the JC message boards. Are you part of that too?
Thanks for your interest in the 10,000 step challenge. I view it as a personal commitment to track a minimum of 10,000 steps a day, no excuses, rain or shine. I decided to start this thread and post my steps everyday to help keep me accountable. Otherwise, I may not commit to it. They say 10,000 steps per day is a good goal to aim for, so that is why I chose that particular number. But please feel free to set a number that you feel comfortable with, whether it's 10,000 or 5,000 or whatever.
I have been making the effort to walk 10,000 plus steps for the past 10 days or so, and I feel so much more energetic and focussed since I started taking my walking seriously. I find it also helps me relieve stress. A couple of things that help me reach my goal: going out for a 1/2 hour brisk walk every morning before I go to work, and another 1/2 hour walk in the evening. I have to do this because I have a very sedentary job, and if I didn't take my two 1/2 hour walks every day, there's no way I would reach my 10,000 minimum. It was hard at first, but I'm surprised at how quickly it has become a part of my regular routine, and how much I miss my walks if I don't take them now.
So, welcome aboard! When you get your pedometer and are ready to start, please start posting your progress! I hope we can encourage each other along the journey to better health!

I got my pedometer yesterday from Jenny Craig. I was excited. This is my 9th day on the program. I LOST 12 POUNDS ON MY 1ST WEEK!!!!!!!! I am psyched. Know,I am ready to join"The Step Club".I am ready to take the 10,000 step challenge.Come on ladies and gentlemen,let's have the best 10,000 step challenge that Jenny Craig has ever had. It will be fun,you'll meet new friends and you burn calories(which means you'll loose weight).
