I lost 13 lbs. my first week. I started JC on 5/15/08 at 536 lbs and weighed in 5/21/08 at 523 lbs.
I have been following the diet to the "T" and really enjoy it. Due to my massive size, JC had to put together a special plan for me. I'm on a 2,600 calorie a day plan but I was only consuming about 2,000 calories that first week. They said if I would of ate more, I would of lost more. JC said I should be losing about 2% of my body weight per week. At 2% that means they were expecting me to lose 10.72 lbs. and I lost 13.
About me, I'm 36 years old and run a business. So I do run around but I am pretty much behind a computer most of the time. I wasn't overweight as a teenager but I started gaining around 20 years old due to my inactive lifestyle.
I look forward to sharing my weight loss success with everyone here.
I'm committed!!!!

Hi Jackie,
Your transformation as well as many others here is a huge inspiration to me. It must feel real good knowing you can run a marathon and ride nice bikes. I used to be into BMXing as a teenager and I loved bikes (a bit different than what you do)
Did you ever hit a plateau throughout the program?

I hear about plateaus a lot on this board. I did not plateau. When I did slow down or stop losing it was because I was slipping in more food and was not sticking to my plan. Losing is all about calories burned vs calories consumed. Sometime people may have water retention and call this a plateau. Remember your body will have it's own rymthum of losing. I did weigh myself daily, and I kept a graph. After a large loss, my weight would go up slightly and then drop again.
Once you get comfortable with the eating program, start an exercise program. Walking is very good to start. Be consistant, make it a part of your routine. If is okay with your doctor, start lifting weights, both upper and lower body. Muscle helps to burn more calories.
You can do this. Don't think of this as a diet, DIETS end. THis is a new lifestyle for you. Pay attention to the portion sizes and get use to them. This is how normal size people eat. I would give myself mini goals, 10 pounds at a time, for you I would make it 25 pound mini goals. Men lose faster.
I have got to get to work...
Good LUck, Jackie

It is my first week too, I started Jenny Direct on 05/16/08 and lost 12 pounds. My starting weight is 370 and my first goal is to get out of the 300's then small increments until I hit my first goal of 184. You are doing beautifully, and remember now you have under 300 to go. They are simply units of measurement, we will both do it.
I have considered gastric bypass, but being in the medical field I have seen the positive and negative side of the surgery. I am convinced I would eat my way back up over 300 and you can do that even with the bypass by consuming smaller amounts continuously. Clearly, this isn't just about dropping the pounds, but changing our mind sets. I want to lose weight and get healthy, it's about finally being selfish enough to take care of yourself, that is what we are supposed to do!
Best of luck and keep chatting!
Regards,
Heatherose

Last week I averaged 2200 calories a day intake and lost the 13lbs.
JC told me if I get my calories up I should lose more.
This week I averaged 2700 calories a day intake and lost nothing.
My plan is for 2600 calories a day so I was a little over this week due to trying to get more foods in.
I am tracking everything I eat right after I eat it in a excel file so I am keeping pretty close tabs on what's going in my mouth. It has been all JC food with the exception of Ruby Tuesday 1 day which I had a 10 oz. grilled chicken breast sandwich on wheat bread with Lettuce, Tomato and 1 TBSP of mayo. Also had the salad bar with Lettuce, Tomato, Cucumbers, Onions and Green Peppers with light ranch dressing (2 oz.) That dinner I accounted for 750 calories based on online nutrition facts.
I'm also adding fruits, vegetables and milk to the JC food I am eating.
Here is my menu for the last 2 weeks...

The first month or so of the program they will have to adjust your calories to fit what works for you. Your weight will fluxuate so do not get discouraged. Get out and walk, a lot! That will keep your motabolizism going. If you do not lose 1 % of your body weight per week, then you are on to many calories. Your consultant will help you with that. EVeryone is different, so it takes a while to customize it to you.
You will be a bit hungry at times, that is okay. As I always told myself "You are not going to starve, you have a years worth of fat on your body" I would go to bed so hungry, then I started to save just enough calories so I could eat a banana just before going to bed. It worked.
Keep your eye on the prize, learn to live with eating less, a lot less. Get out and move that body. Take this a day at a time, make each day count, and don't forget to "smell the roses" along the way.
Do IT!! Jackie

it might take a week or so for your Body to Wake Up and start doing the job it is intended to do
Make sure you are drinking LOTS of water too............. I can really notice the days I get slack on that. I just don't feel nearly as good........
You're doing Great Ruben! keep up the good work.

Today I weighed in, I lost 5lbs this week. I was hoping for 8 - 10 lbs this week but I guess I will take 5 lbs.
That is pretty much 1% of my body weight. I will be so happy once I lose 100 lbs. It will be a miracle!
I think I am going to try 2,000 calories this week and see how it goes.
Thank you for being here.

I'm starting at about 326...up until about 2 weeks ago it really didn't bother me, but for some reason, I'm just starting to feel heavy...does that make sense? Whatever the reason, I'm kind of glad because that's the motivation...I don't like the way I feel or look - it's about time!
I'm looking forward to keeping track along with you all...I can't wait to share in all of our successes!

one day you just look at yourself and think OK! that's enough! No MORE!!.............. I think somehow we live in a world of Denial and just don't WANT to see how unhealthy we have become.
I was the same..... made a bunch of excuses about how " this" didn't work for me? or "that" wasn't what I wanted to be eating? or NOT eating as the case may be. Then one day I just had ENOUGH.
Made the Jenny Call and I haven't looked back since. It isn't an inexpensive program, but for me? that just serves to be further Motivation. To stick to it 100% so I can be onto buying regular food items and not so much of the Jenny meals ASAP............ When I look at the cost of the program? I try to also think about the cost of all the eating out we used to do? meals in a restaurant minimum of once a week? take-out food as well? plus Junk food for home Blech!! I'm sure if you balance that all out? I'm probably not spending any more than I was when we did that?
I haven't been the least bit hungry ............... I do a LOT of volumizing and have tons of tossed salads, and steamed and/or raw veggies ........... some days it's even hard to fit everything all in LOL>
this CAN be done.......... and it will be

You are going to do great on this! I plan on following your journey. I will be checking in from time to time to see your progress. I have a lot to loose and feel like the road is so long... But it is not!!! Time is going to go by weather we do something or not. I rather do it and get this weight off than still weigh what i do 2 or 3 years from now! Here is to a whole new life!!!! We can do this!!!

Hi Ruben,
I know you have now been on the program for a few weeks and I have read your other entries. Sounds like u are doing very good. I thought I would share my story with you also.
I started JC on Jan. 30th 2007 and weighed 428 lbs. For that first 6 and a half months I learned tones of things, tricks of the trade so to speak, but on aug 15th I weighed in at 429!!! What, I actually was one lb more then in Jan?? I cried with my consultant, Caitlyn, and she just gave me the best pep talk she could muster. It hit home with me and I have done quite well since then, having lost 83 lbs. I am so proud of myself!
So, what has changed in my life? So many things. I used to have to stop moving a lot of times because I couldn't breathe, that is totally gone now. I couldn't walk far because my legs and feet and back would hurt. I paid people to do work for me, house work, laundry, grocery shopping, lawn care, etc. Now I am totally self sufficient...louse, laundry, shopping...all on my own. I do not mow, however, I don't have a mower and this man is eager to do it for me. I used to shower twice a week cuz it was too much work to get in and out of the shower, now I am almost every day. No more rashes under the belly fat either!
I have hit a few plateaus but I totally agree with Jackal, it is cuz I wasn't staying true to the jenny plan but was eating a meal or 3 out or caved to a fatty or salty snack. When I stick to plan I lose.
All this to say, good work Ruben and keep your eye on the target ahead. It isn't the lbs we lose, it is the self esteem and pride we gain that makes this so worth it.
Good luck and happy journey. I will also be following you and encouraging you over the next several months.

I have learned I wasn't eating enough food a day so that is why I wasn't loosing as much as I should of been. I have not cheated and have tracked all my foods and JC nutrition dept said I wasn't eating enough. So I had them write out a menu for me that would guarantee weight lost. Well this weeks worth of food for me came out to be $220.
So I will be following their hand written menu this week to see if things get better. They said ideally I should lose 1% of my body weight a week.
I will keep you updated.

Ruben... I have ran into this problem too. When I do not eat everything I am suppposed to eat I do not lose. Funny how we were conditioned for so long to starve ourselves and we will lose weight. Now we have to learn to eat to lose weight. My brain is still processing this information.
I have never said what i weigh and I have been on these boards for 10 months. I give you a lot of credit.
one more question is there something JC can do to help you with the cost of food? If you plan on doing this program it is expensive. I get 30% off my total order every week. Maybe they can boost your membership up to the 30% off to help with the cost???
So make sure you eat it all and I will do the same!!! You are not alone this is something I am working on too!!!

You shouldn't be afraid to post your weight, we are all anonymous here.
I own a company and go out quite often. I am morbidly obese but I am not locked up in my house stuck on a bed eating my life away. I do not have the problems associated with most obese people, probably because of my age (36). I am big boned and tall so I hold the weight a little better than a small boned short person.
My problem has always been eating to little and too much at the wrong times. Due to my lifestyle, I use to starve all day and then eat a big meal at night. I'm a steak and potatoes kind of guy and loved eating at the big well know steakhouses. This has all stopped now.
I look forward to seeing your progress as well.

This is the last diet for me... I am going to do this befoore I hit 40 next year. I am going to maintain it too. I like to call it a LIVEt not a diet. Changing a lifestyle is not easy work but it can be done.
I am so happy to hear that you have a n active lifestyle! that is half the battle!!!
