I will ask a question.

What will be your favorite passtimes when you reach your goal?

Mine will be:
writing
running
kayaking
hiking
biking
swimming

I will ask another question.

What do you want to do for your birthday that does not include eating?

For my birthday, I want to go hiking.

but to your name be the glory,
because of your love and faithfulness."

"She looks well to the ways of her household,
And does not eat the bread of idleness"
- Proverbs 31:27

Well, I'm not a teenager, but.... I've reached goal and my 16 year-old niece is coming to visit for Spring Break (she's in Indiana, I'm in Arizona). I used to be 250 pounds and we would do things like bake cookies and go out to eat. She was a little overweight when she was younger and ate a lot of candy and desserts. I haven't seen her for over three years.

She now is a runner and is on the cross country team at her high school. I am an avid Jazzerciser and she can't wait to go workout with me! So, things on our to do list while she's here...

> Jazzercise
> strength training class
> hike Squaw Peak (1.2 miles to the top of the mountain)
> SHOP
> spa day: facial, massage, manicure, pedicure
> TAKE PICTURES!
> practice her driving (she's getting her license this month)

We absolutely cannot wait!!!

Also on the list....

> Closing night of Hello Dolly (a musical at a local theater) complete with after-party
> Opening night of The Buddy Holly Story (another musical) complete with yet another party!

My husband is a professional trumpet player and works at a local theater. They do great shows and the cast is just great. She's excited to see backstage and get to talk to the actresses. She's also a singer, piano and flute player.

Once I reach my goal I am going to make sure I go to the gym on a regular basis because there is no way I am ever going to gain all that weight back! I never want to be 287 pounds ever again. For my birtday...I dont know, I dont find them all that exciting anymore. Every year just a little older. I am sure I will find myself working like I always do. This year will be my 21st birthday and I have no idea what I would want to do. I mean I dont want to drink...plus there is alot of empty cals in alcohal plus it impairs your judgement if it is dranken in an excessive amounts. I dont know...birthdays some seem all that speical anymore...neither does thanksgiving or christmas....I found myself working all the holidays this last year. Oh well.

I'm not a teenager, but I'll chime in.

Don't wait for goal to start doing things you love. Who cares what you look like? If you're out there, doing something you enjoy, that's poweful stuff. You'll be happier and more balanced. Have fun!!!!

I'll try to be tastefully vague here, but I can think of one "pastime" in particular that I am going to enjoy a heck of a lot more once the weight is gone. wink.gif

I have to disagree a tiny bit with the previous post, though. Certainly, it's not that you SHOULDN'T do the things you love while you're overweight, but I've been both really heavy and really fit before, and the confidence level when I was thin and fit made every activity -- even the simplest of things, like going to classes or out to eat -- immeasurably more enjoyable.

I think when I reach my goal I will be looking in the mirror a lot more. I will enjoy the everyday lighter on my feet. i might even join a running group. I'm totally getting into cooking Jenny meals so probably by the time I reach goal I'll be really fast at whipping stuff up in the kitchen. I'd like to go back to school, get a dog, get married, have another baby and the energy to keep up with that baby.

For my birthday we probably will go out to eat but to our favorite restaurant in the world and during lunch where the entrees and the prices are slimmed down.

I'm not much of a drinker but when I do, I have a full glass of water between drinks. It fills me up and your spending more calries just walking back and forth to the restroom!

I think, once I reach my goal, my favorite thing to do will be clothes shopping. lol. I've always wanted to express myself through my outfits, but I've never been able to, so I'm hoping to be able to do that next year and for the rest of my life. ^-^.

I'm not a teenager either but LOVE your idea to post this stuff!!!

For me...

-shop more and ENJOY it

-run in cute jogging shorts(no more thigh scrub)

-I would even like to join a running club and participate in charity races(5K,10K)

-I'd also love to help others reach their goals

For my Birthday which will be 8.28 and my 39th(wow) last year in the 30s:
--I plan to be down 50lbs (weight starting with a ONE(1) for the first time in 8 years) and my gift for working my rear off will be a Tiffany Cuff bracelet. It will be my reminder that I'm worth no less than the best...in my relationships with others, in my life, and most importantly my relationship with myself. No more self anger/hatred for not getting this done.

Thanks for the topic and I say GO FOR IT!!! If I could only go back in time....I tell you I wish I could've spent my teenage years shopping but more importantly I wish for the mental FREEDOM and headspace that is cleared away when weight isn't on my mind.

You girls don't EVER GIVE UP on what you want the most for yourself!
I hope all of you make your teenage dreams and beyond come true!!

Hope

I want to fly down to Florida to see my brother (I haven't seen in 10 years) and be able to sit comfortably in the plane seat and wear shorts and tank tops rather than covering up my body head to toe.
