My advice is follow the plan. Use the free foods to help satisfy you. Adding additional vegetables (non-starch) can really bulk up the meals. There are a ton of other posts that give specifics.
Don't let yourself be hungry - this will lead to stronger temptations to slip and eat the wrong things.
I was hungry the first week, but was able to keep it under control by using the free foods.
Good luck

I would echo what MrTryIt said, do your best to stick to the plan. When my wife feels hungry she just grabs another bottle of water. Remember that 8 eight ounce glasses of water is the minimum your should be drinking. You can drink more. And, yes, you can add in some of the free foods but I would check with your consultant to make sure how much you should be adding. I know it says free unlimited but I would check anyway. I haven't used the free foods very much yet except a 1/2 cup or cup of vegetables here and there. We have been on the program 5 weeks now and I started at about 315 and working my way down to 160 and I have found that I really haven't been that hungry. I know each person is different which is why I suggest talking to your consultant about it and trying to stick to the program as much as possible. It may seem hard and I am basically in the same boat as you as far as how much we need to lose but I know that we can do this.

I don't differentiate water loss or fat loss - I mean we are lighter..aren't we??
You might want to head over to the "Ask the Dietician" forum. There have been several questions asking about hunger, free foods and substitutions. I have found it helpful and informative.
I have found that using the free foods like brocolli, carrots, cucumbers and celery work well as I personally find such foods hard to 'overeat'
Last night I microwave-steamed brocolli, carrots and cauliflower then microwaved the chicken fettucine, I added the allowed amount of parmesan cheese to veggies and poured the chicken fettucine over the veggies.. It was really good and satisfying.
I started with the planned menus, alternating week 1 and 2. Then i tried planning my own using the online menu planning tool. If you don't use the online tool, you have to check to see if you need to add anything to the days food. I found this to be too much work right now. I like having the menu tell me what to buy for the week and what foods exaclty to eat. I now am back with the pre-planned menus but have decided to reduce the number of Jenny snacks (cheesecake, cheese curls, chocolate cake) that I consume during the week. I am trying to keep the snacks to foods like fruit/cheese/whole grain. This unfortunately is taking some planning and figuring as well.
But eventually i will have to do it on my own, might I well start learning now!

Dan, 20 lbs is GREAT! I am starting week 6 and have only lost 17 lbs. Keep up the good work and we will all get to our goals. I did ask my consaultant today about your question about the unlimited free foods and her response was by all means if you are hungry eat some of the free unlimited vegetables. So,we were on the right track with our answers but I just wanted to make sure we didn't lead you astray.

I have always been chunky so I choose 190 as my goal though I think who ever figures all this out wants me down to 178. Maybe when I get to 190 I'll just keep going.
Like many others I have been on this road before. But at 69 I don't think I will get too many more chances to get it right. I have no fear of reaching my goal. My fear is staying there. Luckly I have many months to figure it out.

I weighed-in today and lost 3.8 for a two week total of 8.7 pounds. I'm extremely happy with that because I was out of town two days this week and we had to go to a dinner party one night. I thought I'd be lucky to break even.
Now the bad news........No more Triple Chocolate Cheesecake My center didn't seem to know if that was a permanent thing from JC or if they were just out. Anyone else finding a shortage of TCC? I threatened to quite the program, I NEED cheesecake.

I weighed in on Saturday and only lost .4 lbs. I kind of expected it. Stressful week and a weak will lead to that. It is still a loss though, and I will be upbeat about this week.

I got great news today from my doctor, my cholesterol is down from 255 to 137 I stopped eating the fries and burgers several weeks before I started JC so can't give the program all the glory. I know it helped though.

You are correct about the not going the other way thing. But, it was still my fault. I ate stuff that I knew was not going to help me. I am, however, grateful that I was aware of what I was doing to my diet and my body. I'm still happy with the weight that I have lost so far and I think this past week made me work a little harder this week and Saturday should be a good day
I also agree with the better nutrition thing. When I was at 260 and made the decision to turn things around, I was on BP meds and had constant heartburn. I would get dizzy tying my shoe. Now, I'm off of the meds and I haven't bought any antacids in about a year

To start, I really love the TCC. We got fourteen more pieces for this week (wife and I), it is by far the best cheese cake Jenney has. I had not heard of it being temporary, I was told it was a new permanent product.
I fell off the proverbial wagon after my weigh military weigh-in (191 lbs) for about five days as personal congratulations to myself. Well not only did I gain 6lbs, but I had heart burn, BAD stomach aches, and just felt really horrible. I learned that sticking to smaller portions is defiantly worth it. Not to mention now that it is summer again, my running time has greatly improved and find it so much easier to work out.
Wishing everyone the best, keep up the great work. It is spring and now much easier to work out.
