My favorite quote is "Just Do It!" I think Nike summed it up well in this one. When we start thinking we can easily sabotage ourselves. If we just get up and exercise, go for a walk without thinking of other things we have to do or how hard it will be. Just eat what were supposed to without thinking about the alternatives.

So ladies, stop the thinking and Just Do It!

I found a few more quotes that i thought i should pass along:

"Don't leave yourself out of your own life..." ~author unknown

"Your happiness is your gift to others..." ~author unknown

"The secret: what you put into the world you get back--give the world your best--best effort, best attitude, highest appreciation..." ~author unknown

And my new favorite:

"Loving yourself means honoring yourself and your own feelings FIRST!" ~Oprah

Dare to let life be great! (Robert Holden) Lisa smile.gif
What you leave behind is not what is engraved in stone monuments
but what is woven into the lives of others." ~Pericles

Hi everyone,
This forum has been really helpful for me today & I thought I could contribute one. I had this on my starbucks cup about 3 months ago:

"Run when you can, Walk if you have to, Crawl if you must, just NEVER give up."
I don't have the name of the Author here tongue.gif

I have been going through a really rough time lately and it wasn't until I read this board that I felt inspiration again. Not just with weight loss, but also the strength to carry on. Thank you very much!

QUOTE(Ladybug 88 @ Feb 22 2008, 11:13 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
2 current favourites of mine:

"and in the end
the love you take,
is equal to
the love you make."
the beatles

and:

"Be the change you want to see." (I don't know who wrote that)

Ghandi said, "Be the change you want to see (in the world.)"

I like Thomas Edison who spoke of the work he did to develop the first light bulb:
"I found a thousand ways that didn't work."

( A much better way to look at past attempts that haven't ended up the way you wanted them to end up.)

"If you can't be with the one you love, love the one you're with..." (Crosby Stills and Nash)-- consider this:
Love yourself now, you are the one you are with NOW...

"The person who has reached perfection is the person who is perfectly deluded." (my own thoughts...)

"It is not the destination that matters, it is the journey."

Long Term Goals:
I will end the food chaos and yo-yo dieting in my life, once and for all, no matter how long it takes-- it is still just 1 day at a time.
I will continue my regular TKD training towards becoming a black belt.

Green Orange Yellow White

Love this thread, and really appreciate everyone's contributions. It's funny how a particular quote is okay one day, then really powerful on another day.

I just saw this one earlier this week, and added it to my signature:

"We never repent of having eaten too little." - Thomas Jefferson

Just a reminder to me to keep my tummy at the 80% level..... hara hachi bu, a Japanese concept, meaning eat until you're only 80 percent full.

I love that Japanese saying!

I am traininng in Tae Kwon Do-- and we say:

"Ha Sa Bul Sung"-- there is no impossible.

The full quote, which I can't remember exactly in Korean is:

"With mind, body, and spirit in the same direction, there is no impossible."

Very good Asian wisdom of the ages!! And it comes in handy when you're asked to break a board with your bare hands and you are like: WTF? I cannot do that.

You concentrate all of your energy and power on getting your hand (or your foot) through the board and tell youself it can be done!!

Finally: I am not sure who originated this quote, but I've heard Dr. Phil repeat it:
"You create what you fear." So the lesson is: focus on what you want, not what you don't want-- b/c you will create what you want if that is your focus!!!
Long Term Goals:
I will end the food chaos and yo-yo dieting in my life, once and for all, no matter how long it takes-- it is still just 1 day at a time.
I will continue my regular TKD training towards becoming a black belt.

This is one I am going to use next week and its from the etools motivations that come up:

I can change my lifestyle, one healthy choice at a time.

And, its true, when we stay on our JC plans, we are working towards changing our lifestyle for the better.
I choose affirmations I can connect to so my motivation stays high.
JC Weight Loss Tracking:

Thoughts to Keep in Mind:

Change is the essence of life.

Be willing to surrender what you are.....for what you could become.

-Unknown

It takes longer to lose weight than to gain.
A little weight loss is as great as big loss
.
There may be weeks your weight may go up a little bit,
but don't get discouraged because even though your weight may be up
one week, you may still be losing inches and gaining muscle.

Your weight is only a number. The changes you see overall physically and
mentally are the things that truly matter the most. Don't get fixated on
your weight number.
In other words, your weight isn't the only measure of your success. Put away the scale and you may just see how far you've
really come
.

Keep in mind that each week is different.

Don't stop & stick with it.

"You deserve your fullest life back. You deserve to be able to breathe deeply.
You deserve to be able to walk as far and as fast as you want to walk —
and to run if you wish. You deserve to be able to buy clothing from any
store you walk into. You deserve quality foods to serve yourself — fresh,
filled with flavors and nutrients and textures and color. You deserve to be
proud of who you are — to revel in your strength of mind, body and
character. You deserve to walk the streets and beaches feeling eyes
on you and knowing you look strong and healthy. You are doing something
that many, many people believe they cannot do or flat-out will not do.

I will repeat that….

You're doing something that many, many people believe
they cannot or flat-out will not do.
" - Jason Alexander

Can't beat the bard! My favorite Shakespeare is "This above all: to thine own self be true,
And it must follow, as the night the day,
Thou canst not then be false to any man."
I've been working on my integrity, as I do believe this is affecting my self-image and my body. Words, thoughts and actions match. Matching the mind, body and spirit, as Vanessa said above. That's what makes a person unstoppable.

Here's one that perfect for our weight loss journey:

"The best thing about the future is that it
comes one day at a time."
- Abe Lincoln

I have to remind myself to just focus on this day, the next meal or snack, and what that next "action item" is... for me right now, it's getting my butt downstairs to workout. Later, dudes!

I just happened to be on for a moment and came across this thread again. It's very helpful this time of year to remember that I don't want to see that weight I was before ever again. So I wanted to remind myself and give everyone an opportunity to remember all the positive quotes we've learned to inspire the motivation again. My favorite is:

The way to happiness is having dreams; the path to success is making them come true.

I also love the starfish story that my consultant shared about a girl throwing starfish off the shore of a beach and back into a surf...and an older man comes along and says that with the thousands of starfish and hundreds of miles of beach she can't make a difference...and she simply throws one more starfish back into the surf and with a smile says "I just made a difference to that one".

My consultant has made the difference to me...and I'm still going strong maintaining. Thankfully. laugh.gif
