Wow -- Week 1

Posted by bartnan , 12 March 2012 · 315 views

..... So I had a crappy week with being sick and just not eating normally, I therefore, had very few expections for this week. I hoped to lose, but really if I didn't I would understand and I certainly didn't expect to gain. I was just hoping to maintain.

I show up for my appointment early and Robin says, "C'mon I'll take you now, my 5:00 o'clock isn't here yet."  I tell her about my week and my low expectations, she says, "well let's weigh in and see where we are."

So I take the ole shoes off (...cause ya know they weigh so much) and step on the scale. Now remember, I do not know what I weigh because at this point in my program I know that it would just dishearten me. Robin screams, "OMG..." and runs back into her office to check something, meanwhile I step off the scale. She runs back out and tells me to step on the scale again and she says it again, "OMG!"  By this point I'm like "Robin is this a GOOD OMG or a BAD OMG!"  She apologized and said, I've never seen anyone lose this much in one week. Ok so now I'm thinking, "cool I've lost 5lbs..." FINALLY, she says, "You have lost 16 lbs!!!!!!!" I of course am in disbelief and I say, "NO WAY!!!" and I said, "Let's weigh me again!" Sure enough, after 3 times on the scale, a lot of rubbing the eyes to be sure we saw it right it was 16lbs.  I was floored.

Now having said all that obviously, I'm in no way under ANY illusion that this is normal, nor will it happen again. Clearly, my body was fighting for me this past week and tapped into some much needed energy. But I can't deny that was a real boost to my morale today!

Moral of the story .... expectations have a way of surprising us!

On to week 2.

OMG! that is wonderful! 16 lbs - that is unbelievably wonderful and I am very proud of you! Keep it up and keep us posted. :-)
